Health Promotion And Wellness Center Case Study
Dear. Dr. Klein:
I am reaching out to you about the open position in the Cougar Health Promotion and Wellness Center. I will be graduating and obtaining my degree in
Health Education in May of 2016 with a 3.3 GPA.
I believe there are a few characteristics that separate me from other applicants applying for this position. First and foremost, I believe my personal
approach in maintaining a healthy lifestyle separates me from other candidates. When planning any health related program, I believe my personal
passion for a healthy well being, and the field of health itself, puts me at an advantage. Throughout my experience working at District 7 School Zone, I
have developed characteristics such as, leadership, working with a diverse group of people, and planning a detailed schedule for the kids. While
working with kids of all ages at District 7, I have learned to communicate more effectively when speaking and understanding their needs, as well as,
communicating the days activities to their parents. I am extremely comfortable working working with children and adults of different race, ethic, and
social backgrounds. In past experiences such as my services learning project; I was tasked with teaching a freshman level Health 111 class. Through
this experience I was able to plan, implement, and assess the students I was teaching. I learned skills such as time management, creativity, and
collecting and delivery data. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jacksonville Florida Community Health Center
Community health centers play a critical role in providing health and social services to low income and medically underserved communities. Health
centers capacity to give far reaching essential care and enhance access to superb care while holding down social insurance cost development has been
recorded. As health reform goads coverage extension and endeavors to enhance quality, the country's dependence on health centers is prone to develop.
In the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Congress contributed $11 billion to the growth of community health centers program for the next five years. The
idea is to widen access of care in lower–income communities as coverage extends. As policymakers and others gear up for ACA execution,

The black populations make up most of those who have died with 215.2 % for heart disease, 177.4% for cancer, 51.7% for stroke and 45.7% for
diabetes. Duval County also has a high number of HIV/AIDS cases with 22.5% versus the state high of 14.8%. For the many community health centers
throughout Jacksonville, Florida the data provided is alarming when it comes to the health of the community. Many of these numbers are so high due
to the different barriers that makes it difficult for many to seek proper and adequate care from their local community health centers. Many of these
barriers include low income, lack of insurance, not enough providers and no transportation. Florida health centers also faces a unique challenge with
reaching "special populations". These groups include families and individuals who are homeless, immigrants who are undocumented and their
dependents, individuals in public housing and Native Americans. These groups also have to deal with the additional challenges of language and
cultural barriers, geographic and social isolation, no knowledge of the healthcare system, social stigma, inadequate living conditions, and environmental

The Executive Director Of The Corner Health Center
Kate Guzman, RN, MS, is the associate director of the Corner Health Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Originally a small clinic in the corner of a local
high school, the Corner is now a free–standing school–linked health center, serving adolescents ages 12–25 and offers a full range of health care, mental
health and supportive services. The Corner's mission is to help young people make healthy choices now and in the future by providing high–quality
primary health care, education and support for adolescents and their children without regard to income level.
The Corner is staffed by a multi–disciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, health–educators, patient navigators and
administrative staff. The staff serves adolescents with the goals to increase their access to health care, reduce risk–taking, help them understand
long–range implications of their health behaviors, and encourage and develop participation in and responsibility for their own health and well–being.
The staff works for the community, adapting and adjusting services to meet the most current needs of those they serve. Currently the organization is in
the process of employing an additional LMSW to offer more behavioral health services to patients and is also increasing substance abuse and
intervention. The staff has begun targeted outreach to the LGBTQ population and male youth, both populations whom are less likely to seek primary
care services. These additional services are being

Nurse Managed Health Centers Essay
NURSE MANAGED HEALTH CENTERS AND PATIENT
–CENTERED MEDICAL HOMES COULD MITIGATE EXPECTED PRIMARY CARE
PHYSICIAN SHORTAGE Des Moines University ABSTRACT There has been an enormous focus on the impending increase in baby boomers
approaching the year 2025 and the predicted shortage of primary care providers. This focus has only increased with the implications the Affordable
Care Act has created through its provisions of increased insurance coverage for the uninsured. The numbers that are being predicted as shortfalls of
health care providers may be exaggerated under many estimates or under–represented in others. The authors in, "Nurse Managed Health Centers and

The financing moreover staffing of long–term will remain a major challenge. (Shi & Singh 2015) This information is intriguing as the long term care
industry looks for alternatives to ensure individuals can stay where they want, as long as they want, with coordinated high–quality care. This level of
care will only occur through good communication, technology, workforce supply, financial provisions and resources, as well as overhauls of
regulations and the entire framework of the long–term care system. This study noted that one of the critical issues is that the scope of practice laws,
workforce supply and level of training as well as payment systems will have to change in order to be able to implement what the results of their
analysis have shown. However, it implies that alternatives are available to mitigate the impending shortages and surpluses in health care delivery.
Major Conclusions The authors came up with three main points that support their overall conclusions. These points included confirming what other
current forecasts have found. There will be large shortages across the nation in primary care physicians but surpluses of physician extenders or nurse
practitioners. (Auerbach, Chen, Friedberg, Reid, Lau, Buerhaus 2013) These results could be skewed based on timing, and new initiatives promoted by
the Affordable Care Act. The second point that this analysis showed is there are marked differences

The Health Care Field For An Orthopedic Center
Since I have been in the health care field for over nine years as a radiography technologist in an orthopedic center. I have seen many older patients
receiving poor quality of care after surgery, especially from a nursing home. One incident that still plays in my mind till this day is a patient that has
been seeing our doctor Mr. Gonzalez for years for chronic back pain. Mrs. Brown was a single but very social and active 62 year old women, until one
day, walking her dog, she slipped, fell and broke her hip. Luckily for Mrs. Brown that day doctor Gonzalez was on call that day and performed
emergency surgery on her hip, because Mrs. Brown had hip replacement surgery she was admitted to a nearby skilled nursing facility to recover and

Brown postoperative appointment." I felt it was necessary to notify my physician before taking an x–rays of Mrs. Brown. When the doctor entered my
x–ray room and examined Mrs. Brown he was outraged that Mrs. Brown was in such bad condition and demanded me to get the facility on the phone.
When the physician spoke to the facility they advise him the manager was out of town, and they have been short of resources and short staff, that is
why Mrs. Brown missed her original appointment and that they were not aware of the sores around Mrs. Brown hip area and thought Mrs. Brown
bandages were changed and wound area was cleaned every day. Because of the facility poor quality of care it had caused Mrs. Brown to be treated for
an infection and was readmitted to surgery.
In the case of Mrs. Brown the staff at the skilled nursing facility such as nurses played a direct role in Mrs. Brown developing an infection. The
nursing staff did not change Mrs. Brown bandages, clean her wound, change her sheets or moved Mrs. Brown every hour from her position instead
Mrs. Brown was left in bed with bloody bandages, urine and feces which caused bed sores and eventually caused an infection. Even though managers
did not directly treat Mrs. Brown they did play an indirect role by not properly training or implementing guidelines to their staff on how to treat patients
that have surgeries, or open wounds.
The model I would apply if I was a manager at Mrs. Brown skilled nursing facility is the

The Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, an Institution Formed and Molded
By Diversity Controversy
According to behavioral theories of communication and decision–making the rational solution to a problem is not always the best answer. Therefore,
when diversity creates controversy, which inhibits the development of an organization, the organization is forced to adopt other useful tactics that
would result in positive outcomes. This document will focus on several aspects of cross–cultural conflicts; A) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A) According to chapter 7 Intercultural conflict competence, in "cultural assumptions about conflicts color our attitudes, expectations, and behavior in
the conflict episode" (Toomey, p.132), the task force felt empowered to go in and take charge of the situation without involving the community in the
decision making process, placing the already concern issues in a prostrated state. Toomey goes to explain that in individualist vs. collectivist,
"collectivist uses the process oriented model of conflict resolution by emphasizing the importance of managing mutual or group face interest in the
conflict process, by upholding a claimed sense of positive public image in any social interaction" (Toomey p. 132). Power, control and loosing face,
those were the elements that clouded the leaders of Brockton from looking at the problem through a different lens. B) Cultural constitute phenomenon;
after the site selection without community approval the community was propelled into conflict escalation, making the City of Brockton a perfect
candidate for mass violence. Citizens could not take out their frustration on the task force; instead they turned their attention on the groups that they
perceived as the perpetrators of the problems (minorities). According to Stub in cultural–societal roots of violence. "Members of different subgroups of

The Role Of Adolescent Health Centers Play On Public Health
Kate Guzman, the Associate Director of a school–linked health center, was interviewed to understand the role adolescent health centers play in public
health. During the interview it was learned that adolescent health centers play an important role in providing some of the ten essential public health
services such as monitoring the health status of a community, informing, educating, and empowering patients on health issues, and mobilizing
community partnerships. Adolescents are an underserved population that requires health care services that are often controversial. Kate Guzman and
her colleagues, work in a collaborative setting to efficiently meet the demanding needs of adolescent health.

Cerritos College Health Center Research Paper
Most people who attend Cerritos College may be unfamiliar with the services that are offered to help students reach success. Among all the student
assistance that is offered at Cerritos College, I would say one of the most important and beneficial advantages of being a student is the health center. The
health center is a place where s student can receive all types of care including mental health counseling, nutrition guidance, and checkups for physical

health is just as important as mental health. School is without a doubt stressful and may prevent the time to have a balanced meal and meet nutritional
needs. The Cerritos College health center is the perfect place for students to learn how to take better care of themselves through proper nutrition. I
personally have visited the student health center for this reason, to learn how to manage my weight better through nutrition. Several students may tend
to binge eat or not eat enough when finals time comes around. The student health center can provide students with a food log that will inform people

The following questions were answered in line with the 2013 CLAS Standards.
The Principal Standard: Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural
health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy, and other communication needs.
Mrs. Mack replied this standard was a broad standard and went on to address each aspect of the standard in great detail.
The effectiveness of the health care we provide at Salina Family Health Care is measured routinely. For example, there is a "health care plan" that
encompasses 16 different aspects of health care that we've determined to be important to our patient population. For these 16 "goals" we have 34
specific interventions we've implemented to help us achieve these goals. We receive a monthly report of our progress toward meeting these goals
which might include getting blood pressure readings below 140/90, catching women up who need a pap smear or encouraging smoking cessation in
persons who smoke. This health care plan drives our practice and the feedback we receive for our efforts guide our practice daily.
The care we provide at Salina Family Health Care I would consider to be equitable. We provide services to anyone who is alive, very simply put. We
do not discriminate on the basis of gender, color, nationality, residency status, ability or disability, or whether or not they can pay for

Market Analysis For Health Care Centers
Market Analysis For health care centers to remain competitive, it is important for them to conduct comprehensive market analysis of their industry to
properly understand important issues affecting their health care marketplaces (CSU–Global, 2015). An effective market analysis consists of the
following elements: industry overview, target customers, market segmentation, competition and market needs, growth, and trends (CSU–Global, 2015).
Therefore, a good market analysis assists health care centers in gaining a competitive edge by determining what their consumers are looking for in
regard to products and services. Industry Overview After the passing of the PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) in the U.S., many
health care centers are focusing on providing patient–centered primary health care services that will improve the health of all Americans (Porter & Lee,
2013). Furthermore, there are added incentives for health care centers to focus on providing more preventive and wellness health services to their
patients, to avoid costly long–term interventions that are associated with chronic diseases that are not well managed (Deloitte, 2011). In addition, many
health care centers are focusing on delivering valued–based health care services that concentrate on improving patient health outcomes, while also
putting processes in place to eliminate excess wastes related to the ordering of unnecessary tests (Porter & Lee, 2013). The goal of value–based health
care is to

The problem is the shift in organization how healthcare is delivered. The problems our health care system has been facing, is the fragmented care
starting at patients' primary care physician. The Patient–Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model is aimed to promote comprehensive, coordinated,
patient–centered care delivered by teams of primary care providers, including nurses and physicians ("Massachusetts Patient–Centered Medical Home

The Patient–Centered Primary Care Collaborative believes this model recognizes a fundamental value about health care delivery: A health care system

underlying issues. The issues that I found within the Health Center are all centered around costs and fees, such as the women and men services and

Case Study: Michealsen Health Center
Furthermore, throughout the course I would always wonder with how many clients, a social worker could work with and according to DuBois and

formal groups and organizations; at the macrolevel, community, society, or even the world community; and even the professional system of social
work." So, if I was thinking about working in a nursing home such as, Michealsen Health Center that is a nonprofit organization I would be working at
a microlevel with individual clients and their families. But, how do social worker gather information especially when they see several people or a

My Internship Experience At The South Central Family...
My internship experience at the South Central Family Health Center has been amazing. After this week I will have completed one month at my
internship and the knowledge and experience I've been able to gain has helped me develop tremendously, both professionally and personally. Among the
various things that I've been able to do at the clinic include, assisting in the implementation of the new patient portal (NEXTGEN), work on creating
various projects with the IT department (e.g., helping prepare for the implementation of ICD–10), taking a lead in the planning of the clinic's summer
health festival, shadowing various physician, and assisting the prenatal department with numerous administrative tasks. Indeed, I have had a lot on my
plate this past few weeks, but the exposure and information I've been able learn about the current status of community health centers in urban areas has
been substantial and crucial in my development. With these new found knowledge about the different careers possible within the health care industry
and the duties and responsibilities that accompany them, I have been able to expand on my options upon graduation and simultaneously narrow them
down to those that I find most intriguing.
Among the various occupations that intrigue me the most are those that encompass multiple roles and have greater potential influence on the
institution. Some of these occupations I've been able to identify thanks to my internship is CMIO (Chief Medical Information

To advance to this level of management, the healthcare administrator must show evidence of professional skills and judgment through performance of
key competencies in being a leader. Healthcare administrators must first be comfortable and confident in managing themselves in order to be an
effective leader. Team members will align their trust with an administrator who leads by example. Important skills to manage include: their time with
tasks and people, their responsiveness and follow through on the challenges, their capability to be relational and motivational with a positive presence,
and the ability to recognize and validate the team members contributions to the overall organizations goals and values. The healthcare administrator
needs to continuously stay on top of healthcare trends and management techniques to be adaptable in the growing and expanding role.
Leadership Styles Leadership styles are an important quality in healthcare administrators. Transformational leadership is a popular style that is used to
"encourage the group to pursue innovative and creative ideas and actions" (Blanken, 2013, para. 42). Leaders engage, mentor, and motivate their
followers to change by utilizing the qualities that make them their leader, such as listening to them and including them in the decision making process,

This is a smart design so that students that may become sick, with a contagious disease, will not affect the entire campus, they can become
quarantined in a room, in a building separate from the rest of campus. The position of the building is important, it sits on top of a hill, and is in
between the dormitories and faculty row, so it is not limited to certain persons that may access it, rather it is open to all those. It is also important to
note that there used to be a doctor that ran the infirmary, where as today we have a nurse practitioner, a person who is not nearly as qualified as a
doctor. This is because of the location. Before automobiles were more popular, before the towns of Amherst or Lynchburg were more established,
going to a doctor would have been more difficult to access. Having a doctor on campus was very important to ensure the health and wellbeing of all the

described their first–hand experience in 9/11. Other research studies demonstrated that after a disaster event has occurred; those who were affected
will show probable posttraumatic stress disorder and individual risk factors. "A renewed interest in the UMHCN of exposed persons has arisen due to
the recent release of public funds for monitoring and treatment of 9/11 – related health conditions..." (Ghuman, et. al, 2014 p 2)
The importance of this study was to research the gaps in the knowledge of UMHCN, and the link between the UMHCN to be associated with the
low levels of social support and lower quality of life as measured by poor mental health. This information on UMHCN was lacking popularity to public
knowledge for a few reasons; the difficulty of cost, access, and factors. This study suggested that there was an increase of mental health issues for those
who were covered by insurance. Also, those who demonstrated symptoms of mental health issues and were not seeking treatment were linked to an
increase of failing to complete treatment. The topic was being studied through outreach campaigns, and using a list that government agencies and

Mission Statement Of Bento Health Center
1a. Mission Statement of Bento Health Center: A mission statement provides the purpose of an organization. A mission statement should be clear and
concise. It should capture the heart of organizations today's work and future work. A mission statement should be crisp and clear and should help
organization differentiate from other organizations in the community. This helps them to promote their differentiation advantage over their competitors
within the community. Using the strategic thinking map for writing a mission statement, I developed following analysis regarding the mission
statement of CHCBLC. I feel, the mission statement of Community Health Centers of Benton and Linn Counties is broad, yet specific. It tell us the
purpose of existence of this organization. This statement is clear about CHCBLC to be known as a medical home and also describes the way they
would like to achieve the status of being a medical home. The mission statement clearly defines the area in which they provide principle services –
medical, dental, mental health services and addiction services. It also captures the payer mix to which they provide services by stating that they offer
care regardless of insurance status. In this way, they are not just targeting to insured or uninsured population specifically and they can develop
organizational strategies to take care of the uncompensated care provided by their health centers. It targets well to the audience by providing the details

  • 2. Jacksonville Florida Community Health Center Community health centers play a critical role in providing health and social services to low income and medically underserved communities. Health centers capacity to give far reaching essential care and enhance access to superb care while holding down social insurance cost development has been recorded. As health reform goads coverage extension and endeavors to enhance quality, the country's dependence on health centers is prone to develop. In the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Congress contributed $11 billion to the growth of community health centers program for the next five years. The idea is to widen access of care in lower–income communities as coverage extends. As policymakers and others gear up for ACA execution, understanding the part ... For the many community health centers throughout Jacksonville, Florida the data provided is alarming when it comes to the health of the community. Many of these numbers are so high due to the different barriers that makes it difficult for many to seek proper and adequate care from their local community health centers. Many of these barriers include low income, lack of insurance, not enough providers and no transportation. Florida health centers also faces a unique challenge with reaching "special populations". These groups include families and individuals who are homeless, immigrants who are undocumented and their dependents, individuals in public housing and Native Americans. These groups also have to deal with the additional challenges of language and cultural barriers, geographic and social isolation, no knowledge of the healthcare system, social stigma, inadequate living conditions, and environmental ... Originally a small clinic in the corner of a local high school, the Corner is now a free–standing school–linked health center, serving adolescents ages 12–25 and offers a full range of health care, mental health and supportive services. The Corner's mission is to help young people make healthy choices now and in the future by providing high–quality primary health care, education and support for adolescents and their children without regard to income level. The Corner is staffed by a multi–disciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, health–educators, patient navigators and administrative staff. The staff works for the community, adapting and adjusting services to meet the most current needs of those they serve. Currently the organization is in the process of employing an additional LMSW to offer more behavioral health services to patients and is also increasing substance abuse and intervention. Nurse Managed Health Centers Essay NURSE MANAGED HEALTH CENTERS AND PATIENT –CENTERED MEDICAL HOMES COULD MITIGATE EXPECTED PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN SHORTAGE Des Moines University ABSTRACT There has been an enormous focus on the impending increase in baby boomers approaching the year 2025 and the predicted shortage of primary care providers. This focus has only increased with the implications the Affordable Care Act has created through its provisions of increased insurance coverage for the uninsured. The numbers that are being predicted as shortfalls of health care providers may be exaggerated under many estimates or under–represented in others. The authors in, "Nurse Managed Health Centers and Patient–Centered Medical Homes Could Mitigate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The financing moreover staffing of long–term will remain a major challenge. (Shi & Singh 2015) This information is intriguing as the long term care industry looks for alternatives to ensure individuals can stay where they want, as long as they want, with coordinated high–quality care. This level of care will only occur through good communication, technology, workforce supply, financial provisions and resources, as well as overhauls of regulations and the entire framework of the long–term care system. This study noted that one of the critical issues is that the scope of practice laws, workforce supply and level of training as well as payment systems will have to change in order to be able to implement what the results of their analysis have shown. However, it implies that alternatives are available to mitigate the impending shortages and surpluses in health care delivery. Major Conclusions The authors came up with three main points that support their overall conclusions. These points included confirming what other current forecasts have found. There will be large shortages across the nation in primary care physicians but surpluses of physician extenders or nurse practitioners. (Auerbach, Chen, Friedberg, Reid, Lau, Buerhaus 2013) These results could be skewed based on timing, and new initiatives promoted by the Affordable Care Act. The second point that this analysis showed is there are marked differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Health Care Field For An Orthopedic Center Since I have been in the health care field for over nine years as a radiography technologist in an orthopedic center. I have seen many older patients receiving poor quality of care after surgery, especially from a nursing home. One incident that still plays in my mind till this day is a patient that has been seeing our doctor Mr. Gonzalez for years for chronic back pain. Mrs. Brown was a single but very social and active 62 year old women, until one day, walking her dog, she slipped, fell and broke her hip. Luckily for Mrs. Brown that day doctor Gonzalez was on call that day and performed emergency surgery on her hip, because Mrs. Brown had hip replacement surgery she was admitted to a nearby skilled nursing facility to recover and receive ... When the doctor entered my x–ray room and examined Mrs. Brown he was outraged that Mrs. Brown was in such bad condition and demanded me to get the facility on the phone. When the physician spoke to the facility they advise him the manager was out of town, and they have been short of resources and short staff, that is why Mrs. Brown missed her original appointment and that they were not aware of the sores around Mrs. Brown hip area and thought Mrs. Brown bandages were changed and wound area was cleaned every day. Because of the facility poor quality of care it had caused Mrs. Brown to be treated for an infection and was readmitted to surgery. In the case of Mrs. Brown the staff at the skilled nursing facility such as nurses played a direct role in Mrs. Brown developing an infection. The nursing staff did not change Mrs. Brown bandages, clean her wound, change her sheets or moved Mrs. Brown every hour from her position instead Mrs. Brown was left in bed with bloody bandages, urine and feces which caused bed sores and eventually caused an infection. Even though managers did not directly treat Mrs. Brown they did play an indirect role by not properly training or implementing guidelines to their staff on how to treat patients that have surgeries, or open wounds. The model I would apply if I was a manager at Mrs. Brown skilled nursing facility is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bettencourt The Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, an Institution Formed and Molded By Diversity Controversy According to behavioral theories of communication and decision–making the rational solution to a problem is not always the best answer. Therefore, when diversity creates controversy, which inhibits the development of an organization, the organization is forced to adopt other useful tactics that would result in positive outcomes. A) According to chapter 7 Intercultural conflict competence, in "cultural assumptions about conflicts color our attitudes, expectations, and behavior in the conflict episode" (Toomey, p.132), the task force felt empowered to go in and take charge of the situation without involving the community in the decision making process, placing the already concern issues in a prostrated state. Toomey goes to explain that in individualist vs. collectivist, "collectivist uses the process oriented model of conflict resolution by emphasizing the importance of managing mutual or group face interest in the conflict process, by upholding a claimed sense of positive public image in any social interaction" (Toomey p. 132). Power, control and loosing face, those were the elements that clouded the leaders of Brockton from looking at the problem through a different lens. B) Cultural constitute phenomenon; after the site selection without community approval the community was propelled into conflict escalation, making the City of Brockton a perfect candidate for mass violence. Citizens could not take out their frustration on the task force; instead they turned their attention on the groups that they perceived as the perpetrators of the problems (minorities). The Principal Standard: Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy, and other communication needs. Mrs. Mack replied this standard was a broad standard and went on to address each aspect of the standard in great detail. The effectiveness of the health care we provide at Salina Family Health Care is measured routinely. For example, there is a "health care plan" that encompasses 16 different aspects of health care that we've determined to be important to our patient population. For these 16 "goals" we have 34 specific interventions we've implemented to help us achieve these goals. We receive a monthly report of our progress toward meeting these goals which might include getting blood pressure readings below 140/90, catching women up who need a pap smear or encouraging smoking cessation in persons who smoke. This health care plan drives our practice and the feedback we receive for our efforts guide our practice daily. The care we provide at Salina Family Health Care I would consider to be equitable. Market Analysis For Health Care Centers Market Analysis For health care centers to remain competitive, it is important for them to conduct comprehensive market analysis of their industry to properly understand important issues affecting their health care marketplaces (CSU–Global, 2015). An effective market analysis consists of the following elements: industry overview, target customers, market segmentation, competition and market needs, growth, and trends (CSU–Global, 2015). Therefore, a good market analysis assists health care centers in gaining a competitive edge by determining what their consumers are looking for in regard to products and services. Industry Overview After the passing of the PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) in the U.S., many health care centers are focusing on providing patient–centered primary health care services that will improve the health of all Americans (Porter & Lee, 2013). Furthermore, there are added incentives for health care centers to focus on providing more preventive and wellness health services to their patients, to avoid costly long–term interventions that are associated with chronic diseases that are not well managed (Deloitte, 2011). In addition, many health care centers are focusing on delivering valued–based health care services that concentrate on improving patient health outcomes, while also putting processes in place to eliminate excess wastes related to the ordering of unnecessary tests (Porter & Lee, 2013).
