Occupational health aims to promote and maintain workers' physical, mental, and social well-being. According to the ILO, there are over 2 million work-related deaths annually, mostly from diseases. Occupational health programs seek to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses through industrial hygiene, disease and accident prevention, hazard identification and control, rehabilitation, and promoting worker psychology and productivity. Components include providing adequate nutrition, disease prevention, sanitation, water, facilities, lighting, ventilation, protection from hazards, first aid, and health education. The overall goals are to adapt the work environment and job to the worker.
