2. Dear Sir/Madam
I wish to apply for a position as an Occupational Therapist at your facility. I am a registered
Occupational Therapist who completed my B. Occupational Therapy degree in 2013 at The University
of The Free State. I worked at Natalspruit Hospital in Katlehong, Gauteng, doing my community
service year in 2014. During my time being a student, as well as during my time in community
service, I was privileged to work in diverse environments, enabling me to learn a lot and stretch my
roots as a young aspiring OT.
I have since worked in a physical rehabilitation setup, dealing with patients of various ages and
physical diagnoses. Currently I work at an in-patient psychiatric facility, now mainly dealing with
adolescent patients, administering treatment with regards to; life and social skills, coping
mechanisms, substance abuse and addiction, learning difficulties and various other aspects of
functionality.
I am a passionate and driven therapist who thrives at the opportunity of a challenge, considering
myself to be a person of integrity who believes in ethical and professional conduct. My working
experience in government and private facilities have equipped me with a compassionate
understanding of different communities. I believe that my clinical experience in physical as well as
mental health settings, has given me the fortunate advantage to follow a holistic, yet person centred
approach when screening, assessing and treating a patient.
Working as an Occupational Therapist my roots have grown and gained stability in the profession
and I enjoy providing quality treatment on individual and group level. I have a special interest in
hands and am aspiring to attain my diploma in hands therapy.
I am an open minded person who is keen on finding innovative solutions to challenges. I am flexible
and have good organisational skills. Although I sometimes tend to take on a lot, I am a good multi-
tasker and perform well under pressure. I am a fun, caring and grounded person thus enabling me to
build good relationships with my co-workers, patients and other professionals. I value working as a
team and strongly believe in treatment as a multi-disciplinary entity. I have the ability to work well
within a team, as well as individually. I am eager to learn and to continuously improve my skills to
deliver the best possible treatment to patients. I therefore enjoy going on workshops and learning
from other experienced professionals.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely
Chanel Vlok
