The Hatch Act is a US federal law that prohibits employees in the executive branch of the federal government, except the President and Vice President, from engaging in partisan political activity. It restricts lesser restricted employees from using their official authority to influence elections or fundraising for political parties. All VA employees are prohibited from being candidates for partisan office, encouraging or discouraging political participation from those with business before the VA, and engaging in political activity while on duty, in a federal building, or wearing official attire.
