Harvard Summer School began as a religious institution, with over half of early graduates becoming ministers. However, by the 1760s only 15% of graduates were ministers as the curriculum expanded. Harvard University produced many influential early American leaders, with 10 of the first 12 US Presidents being Harvard graduates, including the second President, John Adams.
