Ms. Lena Hagman has had a long career as an economist in Sweden, holding several senior positions since 1985. She is currently a senior economist at Teknikföretagen, where she participates in economic analysis and forecasting. Previously, she was Chief Economist at Almega and TCO, heading economic forecasting teams. She has also held economic analysis roles at Statistics Sweden, the Ministry of Finance, and other organizations. Throughout her career, Ms. Hagman has focused on analyzing the Swedish and global economies, industries, labor markets, productivity, and structural changes.

A major responsibility for the Chief economist at Almega was to analyze and explain the
impact of the private service sector on Sweden’s economy, including its importance for the
labor market. This was done by producing independent forecasts for the economy twice a
year, quarterly business cycle reports as well as reports in relevant fields such as the
interrelations between industries using input-output-data, the impact of global value chains,
changes in demand of skills in the labor market, productivity growth etc.

2. Chief economist at Statistics Sweden
2003 - 2004 (2 years)
Head of a newly established unit for economic analysis at Statistics Sweden. The main
purpose of this special kind of analysis was to encourage co-operation between the primary
statistics and the National Accounts to work for improvements of the economic statistics as
well as to help users of the statistics to understand how the statistics is measured and can be
interpreted.
During the time, Hagman started a quarterly report which explains the latest quarterly
figures from the National Accounts. It also brings up current news and topics about
economic statistics, making it easier for users to interpret the statistics. The name of the
publication is “Sveriges ekonomi – statistiskt perspektiv”, and it’s still being published on a
quarterly basis.
Head secretary of a Government Commission for the improvement of Sweden’s economic
statistics

The aim of the Commission was to suggest improvements in Sweden's economic statistics.
The work of the Commission was based on benchmarking with 11 other countries' economic
statistics regarding its quality and improvement. The work of the commission was presented
in several reports. The Commission was headed by the Director- general at Statistics
Sweden, Svante Öberg, former Under Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, who later became
Deputy Governor of Sweden’s Central bank.

Member of Dagens Industri's Shadow board to the Central bank (Riksbanken), December
2006 – February 2013. Hagman was one of six chosen economists by Dagens Industri for the
Shadow board, when it was established in December 2006. Hagman stayed on the board for
six years. The Shadow board meets about one week before the executive board of the
Riksbank has its monetary policy meeting, six times per year. The Shadow board simulates
the monetary policy decision. A summary of the discussion and decision of the Shadow
board is presented in the business paper Dagens Industri a few days before the
announcement of the real monetary policy decision. Many times, the Shadow board has
made the same decision as the real board, but the Shadow board has also differed from the
Riksbank on some occasions.
Member of the Board of directors for Sjunde AP-fonden, May 2005 – May 2011. Hagman
was appointed as member of the Board of directors for AP 7 by Sweden’s government. The
AP 7 board is a team of professionals with extensive expertise in business, finance and the
financial markets. The board bears ultimate responsibility for the fund to the government
and Parliament. AP 7 is the state-owned alternative to the private investment funds offered
by the premium pension system. AP 7 has given individuals’ savings for retirement higher
average returns and lower fees than private funds available in the premium pension system.

4. Member of Industrins ekonomiska råd, (January 2002 – March 2005)
Chosen as one of four independent economists for making analysis and recommendations
for the negotiating parts deciding on the wage agreements for Sweden’s mining and
manufacturing industry, setting the “mark” for the labor market overall.
