Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth Sikh Guru, who led the Sikhs from 1665 until his beheading in 1675. He was born in Amritsar, India in 1621, and was trained in religious education, martial arts, and horse riding by his father Guru Hargobind Sahib. At age 13, he joined his father in battle against the Mughal empire, impressing him with his bravery and sword skills. After more battles, Guru Tegh Bahadur continued spreading the Sikh message of the fatherhood of God. Considered a principled warrior and spiritual scholar, his 115 hymns are included in the main Sikh text.
