2. GUJARAT
• The Gujarat Vidhan Sabha ( ) or the Gujarat
Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of
Gujarat.
• It is situated in the capital Gandhinagar. The first was elected in
1962.Presently, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly
elected from the single-seat constituencies and one member is nominated.
• In 1962 the first Gujarat Legislative Assembly was elected with 154 seats.
• In 1966 the number was raised to 166. In 1971 the number was raised to
182.
• In 1976 the government imposed a moratorium on further changes until
after the results of the 2001 census were tallied.
