This document provides a guide for intensive therapy intervention for a child with a potential stuttering issue. It lists factors to consider that are associated with stuttering based on research, including a positive family history of stuttering, late onset after 3.5 years of age, problem persisting for over 12-18 months, frequent repetitions on single syllables or words with increased length and speed, tension during speech, cluster disfluencies of over 2 on a word or between words, 11 or more stutter-like disfluencies on 100 syllables of speech, difficulty initiating speech or breathing issues associated with speech, child awareness of and frustration with the problem, and other developmental issues.
