4. “Battle of the Fans”
MECHANICS:
• The class will be divided into 5 groups with 8 members each.
• Each team will be provided a limited materials such as fans and Suha, and
timer.
• Each team will fan the "suha" until it crosses the finish lines.
• To determined the winner I will use a timer, and The winner will receives a prize
and has the advantage to choose what envelope they want to open.
• The envelopes contain the dance literature of Sua ku sua by figures.
6. ORIGIN
Sua Ku Sua means My Pomelo Tree, it
originated in Jolo, Sulu where most of the
people living there are famers or sea farmers.
They are rich of the Coconut Trees and
Pomelo Trees which greatly influenced the
dance Sua ku Sua.
7. • Sua- Ku – Sua is a dance that likens the sua’s
gentle leaves, attractive fruits, its fragrance
and slender body to that of a lady.
• The Sua- Ku- Sua dancers make use of two
white Fans that are swayed, as if to signify the
swaying of the leaves of the sua tree while
singing along with the music and their rice
powder – covered faces.

8. • Aside from being known as a fierce warriors, the
tausug of Jolo, Sulu are also remarkable as
seafarers and farmers.
• In Sulu, extensive orchards are planted with
coconut and pomelo and field with stables like rice
and root crops.
• Pomelo fruits serves as an important source of
income of the people of Sulu.
• Their dependence of pomelo fruits for their
livelihood inspired them to create Sua- Ku - Sua

• Arms are extended side ward with a fan in each hand.
• Take 32 steps forward, turning the hand from wrist down and
up alternately on every counts.
• Bend the head sideward to the right and to the left in time the
hand movement.
