GreenShoots is a boutique technology and operational consulting firm focused on providing operational solutions to financial services companies, particularly alternative investments firms and hedge funds. 3. The beginnings for these type of ventures are always difficult and its easy to fall under the temptation to purchase software packages off the shelve, only to realise that, in the end, are to complicated and costly to maintain.

4. Another way is to use traditional systems that everybody feels comfortable using, like Excel to store data and reporting or Outlook to distribute information and to communicate. Although these apps are very good, they are not designed to support the exponential needs of a Fund or Management Company and they very difficult to escalate.

6. Carlos hold a 2:1 BSc Financial Economics by Birkbeck College, University of London.

7. Worked at Merrill Lynch from 2001, were he held various responsibilities in areas like Financial Controlling, Prime Brokerage and Futures and Options. He also participated in various projects involving systems decommissioning, migrations and process flow reengineering.

In 2004, he moved to Madrid to work for Vega Asset Management in the Middle Office and Valuations area where he had the opportunity to design and develop new and innovative Operational Risk management tools and to redesign and optimise various work flows. Among other attributions, he became the Pricing Manager for the Vega Funds.
