Socrates was an influential philosopher in ancient Athens who spent much of his time questioning others on ethics and values. He believed that the unexamined life was not worth living and felt a duty to question others. Though he did not write anything himself, his ideas were documented by his students including Plato and Xenophon and influenced Western philosophy.
