8. Letter to Spanish Registry of Universities regarding National University of Medical Sciences and their legal standing
(RUCT- Registro de Universidades, Centros y Titulos)
(SPANISH) Estimado Señor/Señora,
Soy residente de España interesado en estudiar un Doctorado en Osteopatía (DO) que está ofrecido por NUMSS (National University of Medical Sciences) en Madrid:
https://www.numss.com/
Saludos cordiales,
Daniel
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am a resident of Spain interested in studying a Doctorate in Osteopathy (DO) that is offered by NUMSS (National University of Medical Sciences) in Madrid:
https://www.numss.com/
Before starting the program, I have some doubts that I would like to clarify with you:
1) Has this doctorate been validated by the Ministry of Education? The website says that the Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs legalizes this diploma but I wanted
to make sure of its validity. (I attach a screenshot of what is written on the NUMSS website)
2) I wanted to confirm that a private online school can offer a License in Osteopathy and Doctorate at the same time as it puts on its page in English (I attach a
screenshot)
3) The doctorates offered by NUMSS are in alternative medicine but I do not see the school in the official list of medical schools or the official university to which it is
attached. I see a commercial register number but can you help me find it in the list of recognized medical schools in Spain?

https://www.educacion.gob.es/ruct/home

Good Morning,
This NUMSS center is not officially attached to any Spanish University. For this reason, the degrees the NUMSS imparts are
not official in Spain, in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, which establishes
the organization of official university education (Official Gazette of the State of October 30, 2007)
In the Registry of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT) you can consult the degrees given, with official validity throughout
the national territory.
The address is as follows:
https://www.educacion.gob.es/ruct/home
Only official Universities are registered in the RUCT, among which the NUMS does not appear.
All the best

If you go to the main site and see the physical address of the institution
you will not find it there because there is no institution.
13. Here is what people write about NUMSS
https://forums.studentdoctor.net
To be honest, I'm not even sure if this school
is recognized by the government of Spain to
give academic degrees (I couldn't find
information on their website, and they claim
that their DO program is accredited by the
Council of Manual Osteopathy Education)
What Wikipedia says about it
14. https://en.wikipedia.org/
NUMS is an unaccredited grantor of false
degrees, including DO degrees. Spanish
authorities are now launching an investigation.
We can also follow the link from wikipedia and see https://ask.metafilter.com
“The PhD qualification (all in 2 years of online
lectures!) only adds to my belief that this is a
fraudulent organization. Has anyone else had
experience with people who misrepresent their
education? Anyone with experience with NUMSS
specifically?” - taken from forum

As was to be expected, the questioner Juggler95 is
not the first to ask the question about this institute. As
was also to be expected after the feedback, this
institute is also viewed rather critically elsewhere.

complaint was found

Public Forum Opinions
“I was researching osteopathy schools in Ontario. I was told by
some graduates that the school is not accepted by insurance
companies. They told me their claims for their patients have been
rejected. Also they tell you that their program costs $5000.
However there is no mention anywhere on their website that tells
you that you are required to pay a one time $2000 fee for their
useless board exam which is not recognized. They surprise you with
this $2000 when you do your practical.
Do not waste your money with this school as there are other
legitimate schools out there. The address for their board is just a
UPS mailbox located at 10-8707 Dufferin Street, Suite 410 Thornhill,
Ontario, L4J 0A6” - concerned potential student

First of all check the athletic therapy association in
Ontario, NUMSS which is a school run by Pourgoul is
not accredited by them which if you took the fake
online program you can’t practice athletic therapy in
canada. Also national academy osteopathy email didn’t
even work, and it is only 8 months long which is very
fishy compared to other schools that are recognized by
OAO (ontario association of osteopathy) which is 4 to 5
years long.

The National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO) is
run by Dr. Shahin Pourgol who had been
charged with 16 allegations by the College of
Chiropractors of Ontario (CCO) and was
disciplined with penalty after Dr Pourgol
signed the Agreed Statement of Facts. Among
the serious allegations which Dr. Pourgol later
admitted is perjury, falsifying his names and
other documents to obtain auto insurance
settlements. Please, please be very weary if
you ever consider to enroll in NAO.
