Ninety years ago on December 25, God blessed the world with the birth of Paul Currie. ForPaul to fulfill his life's
calling, God knewhewould need a loving, caring person byhis side, so He brought Paul and Dot together and called
their marriage good ! Thanks beto God for the Curries' ministry that has blessedso many generations in
Caruthersville, the bootheel and beyond.
Howgrateful I am my motherwas secretary at FirstPresbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau, MO when you became
Caruthersville's Presbyterian pastor, Paul. At that time ourchurches were in the same Presbytery so you and Dot
werein Cape often and becamefriends with my parents. Thevery best inheritance I receivedfrom them was a "
loveship " with you and Dot that has included your support and guidance of me through my professional life and
many challenging times in my own journey of faith and service as an Elder andClerk of Session.
You havebeena beloved, highly regardedsupply pastor and advisorfor Cape First Presby through the years, and
you werethe Pastor both of my parents wanted by their sides when their earthly lives were coming to an end.
Your beautiful funeral services for them continue to be of comfortto me anytime I reread them.
I am sograteful for my friendship with you and Dot and the joy and privilege ofknowing and loving you ! DearPaul,
if there werea Presbyterian Pastors' Hall of Fame, you would bethe bestof the bestin it !You havebeenand
continue to bethe people's Pastor and the pastors' Pastor. You areourrock, ourcomforter, ourinspiration, and there
is no prayerpower like the combined Curries' prayer power

Once upon a time(well, actually just 8 years ago)
there was a couple who stole our hearts. There were
MANY practical reasons why a move to the
Bootheel may not be an ideal plan for The Lyle's.
However, we drove into the town to "sneak" around
and met the most delightful, endearing couple who
won us over from the second we walked into their
home. We talked like we were old friends and now I
realize this is the gift they have with everyone.
EVERYONE feels valued, treasured and like they are
the most important person in their presence! How
Christ-like is this quality! I have LOVED reading all
the messages and seeing photos(especially the
historical society biography). Every word affirms the
factthat you, Dr. Paul exemplify humility,
compassion and just a GREAT amount of love for
all. As your pretty prized Dot would say, "Thank you
for being born!!." You have enriched many a soul!
Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Currie, from one of your across the parking lot Methodist
neighbors! You truly do exemplify the Love of God. You have been a part of my
life for aslong asI can remember. Kindergarten, Bible School, Holy Week
services, weddings and funerals and much more. You and Mrs. Dot have been a
part of Caruthersville history. Having grown up around the same time
asDavid and Keith, I used to think you were at all of the activitiesgoing on
because your sons were involved. As I got older, I realized thatyou were there not
only for them, but for our entire community and beyond. I hope and pray that
your birthday will be joyful and that realize how much your whole community
loves and honors you!
