According to the PA Department of Education,  “ The purpose of the culminating project is to assure that students are able to apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information and communicate significant knowledge and understanding.”  Completion of the graduation project is a requirement for graduation.

Develop a cumulative career based project to assist students in researching potential careers and educational programs. All students must satisfactorily complete each component of the project to be eligible for graduation. The majority of the project will be completed using an existing web-based career program (currently, Career Cruising) which can be accessed at both home and school. Students will save grade level assignments to an electronic portfolio.
Information pertaining to project requirements will be provided to all students and parents starting with orientation and will be revisited at class meetings. Parents will be able to monitor progress through Sapphire. Students will meet with their mentor twice a year during school scheduled meetings for the purpose of guidance and progress monitoring. Project progress will appear on report cards as a marking of Pass or Fail. Integration of the project into the existing curriculum of Fundamentals of Family and Consumer Science.
Freshman Year : Complete the requirements of required FCS, two meetings with mentor Sophomore Year : Attend career fair, Explore careers, update electronic portfolio, two mentor meetings. Junior Year : Job shadow experience, explore education/training programs, additional career exploration, update electronic portfolio, two mentor meetings. Senior Year : Update resume and entire portfolio, submit final product to mentor by the last day of the 1 st  semester.
Any student who fails to complete a grade level requirement of the project will receive a rating of “Fail” on their report card. Additional Consequences include : Student assignment to the drop in center during flex to complete work Ineligibility for Senior Option, Class Trip, Parking Permit, and/or Prom (until work is completed) Ineligibility for Graduation
