To graduate with a Dogwood Diploma, students must complete certain core courses in subjects like English, math, science, and social studies. They need a minimum of 80 credits total, including 28 elective credits. Students also require 30 hours of volunteer or work experience and must complete the Grad Transitions program. To receive their diploma, students must pass provincial exams in certain subjects in grades 10 through 12.

● A form of Language Arts 10, 11, and 12
● Social Studies 10, and some form of Socials 11,
or 12
● Science 10, and some form of Science 11, or

● Fine Arts/ Applied Skill 10, 11, or 12
● P.E. 10

To Graduate, you need at least 80 credits, as

● Woodwork, Metal
● Sewing
● Cooking
● A second language (this is required at many
Universities)
● More than 1 Science, such as taking Biology
and Chemistry (1 would be an elective)
● Art, Theatre, Band

6. Graduation Planning
I have learned that there are other ways you
can get credits too, such as:
● Extra-Curricular Activities- some activities
qualify for school credits, such as Yearbook
● High level sports teams- if you play for a
provincial or national team, your courses can
be designed so that you sport qualifies for
credits
● Equivalency- if you went to another school
outside of the province, you may be able to get
those credits to transfer over to your present

You also have to take Provincial Exams in
Grades 10, 11, and 12 in:
● Science (Grade 10)
● Math (Grade 10)
● Language Arts (Grade 10 and 12)
● Social Studies (Grade 11 or 12)

focus areas for careers. They are:

● Health and Human Services
● Liberal Arts and Humanities
● Science and Applied Science
● Tourism, Hospitality, and Foods
● Trades and Technology

10. Graduation Planning
● After you have everything that is required, you
are ready to graduate!
● Hopefully you have a plan of what school you
are going to go to, how you are going to get
money, etc.
● Making a Graduation Transitions Plan helps put
all of this into place
