sequential arrangement of events. This is the
normal way as shown by the story mountain
below.
EXPOSITION - setting
RISING ACTION - problem arises
CLIMAX - most interesting part
RESOLUTION - ending
FALLING - problem solved
What is Plot?
The plot is one of the elements of a
narrative. It consists of several events. The
events tell the action and conflict that leads
to its climax and conclusion. It is the story
line plan or scheme. The plot may be
presented through literary devices such as:
Chronological-sequential arrangement of
events, en medias res and flashback.
Activity!
Identify the exposition, rising action, climax, falling and
resolution from the story of "The Ant and the Grasshopper."
__1. The grasshopper continue to play under the sun even
the ant adviced him to store food and be ready for the rainy
days.
__2. In the garden where the ant is working while
grasshopper is playing.
__3. The rain came and so grasshopper left without any
food to eat and shelter to settle.
__4. Grasshopper learnt his lesson.
__5. Ant entertain grasshopper to his house.
