2. The economic objectives are to:
• stimulate economic growth in local businesses by driving up demand for digital connectivity
and the innovation which it can support
• encourage inward investment from larger digital dependent businesses, including those in key
strategic industries such as energy, food processing, health and knowledge based industries
• establish Aberdeen as a priority destination for innovative use of digital technologies and
services by the public and private sector and retain the existing employment in the energy
sector by enabling it to compete effectively on the world stage
• bridge the digital divide across the region and ensure both economic and social cohesion
In terms of our social objectives we aim to:
• drive adoption across the community to aid social inclusion and ensure the ability to harness
the digital economy and access public services is delivered to all
• build on Aberdeen’s reputation in the field of health related applications.
• provide a platform for the cost effective delivery of key public sector services.

Delivery:
SCCP Programme
• Installations progressing in 31 publicly accessible buildings handling in excess of 3 million
visitors per annum.
• Creation of three demonstration and innovation promotion centres across the private and
academic sectors
• Growing uptake of vouchers as core infrastructures are deployed.
Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband
• NGA penetration in the city 80.2% across DSSB and BT Commercial roll out by Q2 2014/2015.
Accelerate Aberdeen
• Wireless concession contract issued to Wireless Infrastructure Group
• Exploration of council physical and telecommunications infrastructures

5. Private Sector
City Fibre and Internet for Business
• GigaCity announcement and sign up programme.
• IFB Tier III data centre.
Incumbent suppliers
• Scottish and Southern Energy Telecoms investing £1million in technology platform to support
new Brightsolid data centre.
• BT Commercial roll out to business and domestic customers.
• Level3 Opening new POP in the city.
• An increase in local, regional and national suppliers unbundling exchanges and developing
own network infrastructures.
