Google Earth is a virtual globe program that provides satellite imagery of Earth allowing users to see places from above as if looking through a satellite. It was originally called Earth View 3D before being rebranded as Google Earth in 2005. Google Earth provides detailed street views that give users a clear view of locations as if they were standing there. Teachers and firefighters find it especially useful for enhancing understanding of places and locating fires.
