To become a certified tour guide in the Philippines requires attending training from the Department of Tourism, passing requirements like background checks and permits, and paying an accreditation fee. The training covers topics like tourism overview, culture, history, and customer service. Accredited guides benefit from promotion on tourism websites and endorsements. Continuing education is also important for guides to stay updated on trends. Strong communication, knowledge, and a welcoming personality are qualities of an ideal tour guide. Guides must prepare thoroughly for each tour by studying the itinerary and group.
