Waiting on God requires patience, humility, faith and courage. While waiting is difficult and uncomfortable, it allows God to work in our lives, purify our motives, teach us to rely on Him, protect us from unseen dangers, and prepare us to make the greatest impact. Impatience can lead us to act in our own strength outside of God's will, resulting in disappointment and negative consequences. In contrast, surrendering to God's timing allows Him to act on our behalf and give us His best.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers.
