GLOCAL
TEEN HEROIN SEARCH OF FANTASTIC TEENS
ABOUT
Glocal Teen Hero
Glocal Teen Hero (GTH) is a platform that accolades the teenagers and hoist them
by giving them an opportunity to share their initiation and creativity.
GTH is a platform that is exclusively for the teenagers. We aim to empower the
teenagers and give them an opportunity to lead their endeavors, bridge them to
the industry leaders for collaborations, motivate them to dream big and always
follow their heart and passion.
Objectives
We aspire to bring forth the ordinary
yet, passionate, fantastic and
change-making teenagers. More than a
program or a project, GTH is a journey
where every journeyer has an experi-
ence and learning worth sharing while
also motivating their peers.
Years of Completion
GTH started four years back on 2015
targeting teenagers of Kathmandu
valley only. In the second year, it
reached to teenagers across nation with
an activation program in different cities
to reach out to teenagers directly. The
third year marked the initiation of
Glocal International Teen Conference
together with Glocal Teen Hero and the
fourth was a great continuation of the
legacy.
How we do it:
GTH starts with a call for application in
the first round. After that, Glocal’s 20
under 20 are selected. The Finalists are
selected before the Grand Award Gala.
These Finalists go through the compe-
tency development trainings and
grooming. At the end, the Glocal Teen
Hero is announced amidst an
Award-gala. The evaluation is done
through the submission of a document
of evidence of work and interview by
jury.
Partners and Supporters
From the inception of Glocal Teen Hero
to this date, the ability, works and
enthusiasm has created a great impres-
sion in the society today. The stereo-
type for the teenagers being a child has
now created a change in the society.
This change in the teenagers and the
recognition to these teenagers through
this platform has increased the trust of
the partners and supporters by 80%.
Trusted by 5 partners in 2015 to 24 in
2016, bringing down 2017 to have 26
partners which has brought this project
to gain trust by 32 partners in 2018.

IMPACT
Impact Created
GTH is a unique concept and is one of a kind as it is exclusively for teenagers.
Teenage is the transitional phase between childhood and adulthood. So, teenag-
ers are often underrated or not trusted. Thus, the value is created in ‘recognition
through trust.’ The project also demonstrates an example to the people and soci-
ety on how teenagers can create an impact and they should be given an opportu-
nity and chance to grow. With four years of GTH, we have witnessed an excep-
tional growth in teenagers and their contribution to society are praise worthy.

Qualitative Aspects (Participation)
GTH in this past years have witnessed exceptional teenagers who have great achieve-
ments and dared to follow their dreams. These teenagers always seek to explore, learn
and create an impact. Today, teenagers are causing a global stir by influencing, directing,
leading thereby, creating an impact. The flip side of the coin is there are no platforms
that is exclusively for teenagers where they can showcase their initiation and creativity.
There are many such teenagers example of trying to create an impact and are in need of
a motivation.
GTH aspired to create a platform for teens where they nurture their dreams and get a
motivation to follow their passion. We aspired to create a community of like-minded
teenagers who are also the future leaders. These were the impactful teenagers who
started early eventually becoming the game changers who defied the stereotype of
society that teenagers are impractical and their ideas are naĂŻve just like them.
Some of the change makers; teenagers who got selected were:
The First Hero: Bipana Sharma
Fun, quirky and optimistic, Bipana Sharma, the first Glocal Teen
Hero is someone who is full of life and has a burning passion to
make Nepal a child-friendly
country. Bipana is probably known most for playing a leading role
in making Sunwal the first child-friendly Municipality of Nepal. She
also ended a child marriage happening in her community when
she was just 11.
The Young Scientist: Shantosh Lamichhane
A soft-spoken person with a passion for engineering and immense
love for Leonardo Da Vinci, Santosh Lamichhane did not expect
Glocal Teen Hero to be anything special when he applied in 2016.
He is known for his invention-The Corn Thresher Machine. When
asked if he had done anything that had impacted the society, he
said, ‘No, but I am interested in building stuff. I love engineering.’
And he decided to give it a try, eventually winning the title of Wai
Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2016.
The Scientific Entrepreneur: Sachin Dangi
Sachin Dangi is a 17 year old Social Activist. He is currently working
as a President of Teenage Society Nepal. Also, he is a young
member at the New York Academy of Sciences and an Ambassador
to Glocal Khabar and OYA Nepal. Glocal Teen Hero- 2017, Dangi
portrays exemplary leadership skills and is also a Programmer,
Debater, Blogger, MUNer and Scouter.
A dedicated person enriched with self-esteem, Dangi, aspires to
become a role-model for teenagers who want to something. Cur-
rently a high school graduate, he wants to contribute in the field of
science and social welfare.
On a journey to stop Kidnap Marriage :
Prashansha KC
Prashansha KC, 17 years old Youtuber and Social Activist from
Rukum won the ‘Glocal Teen Hero 2018’ this September. She not
only loves working on filming and editing videos online but also
aspires to advo- cate against kidnap marriage. On September of
2017, she, on the behalf of “World Experience Foundation” initiated
and completed a project named “Eradication of Kidnap Marriage” to
spread awareness against kidnap marriage and child marriage for 21
days in Rukum.
She is very keen to work for the educational uplift of the students in
Mid-Western part of Nepal. Previously she used to teach English in
a government school. She strongly believes that her efforts to
eradicate the kidnap marriage will bring a distinct change in Nepal-
ese society.
ALUMNI
GTH Alumni
GTH is not just a platform but a medium for these teenagers to further grow and
develop through multiple resources and network that they get through GTH. Featur-
ing few of our teenagers; their success, growth and development after the recogni-
tion of Glocal Teen Hero platform;
Growth of Bipana Sharma:
After becoming the very first Glocal Teen
Hero, Bipana feels that the efforts she has
put in to have become even more influen-
tial and that too in a national scale. Bipana
won the 13th Formosan Girl Awards in 2015
in Taiwan after winning Glocal Teen Hero
in 2015. Winning the award made her even
more responsible and strengthened her
resolve to fight for the rights of children.
Bipana proudly says that before her, a
child-friendly community was just a con-
cept but because of her efforts, she has
set a milestone which is a big achievement
for her.
In her own words, she warmly says that
Glocal Teen Hero helped her realize that
she was made for something big, and it
was the very platform that gave her the
required boost that she needed to become
an influence to other people to help con-
tribute towards a child-friendly Nepal.
She also worked together with the Dhur-
mus Suntali Foundation and starred in a
movie titled ‘Jyoti’ which sheds light on
her journey, and the difficulties that many
girls like her are facing in her hometown.
Change in Albina’s community
Albina says that before she participated in Glocal Teen Hero, no one really believed in
her work. She says that the people at Glocal Teen Hero believed in her when others
didn’t. “I got the title of a ‘Social Activist’ from Glocal Teen Hero. This pushed me to uplift
the conditions of women in my community more strongly. After Glocal Teen Hero I was
able to find my voice and impact even more people and help more women,” she says.
After Glocal Teen Hero, she says the people who hadn’t been paying attention to her
now started to give her time and her works began to influence more people. She now
says she has been able to link with other people who share the same goal.
Realization of Shantosh
Lammichhane:
After being a part of Glocal Teen Hero,
Santosh claims the platform helped him
explore himself more. Glocal Teen Hero
helped him realize what he was truly
capable of. Santosh, who lives by the
motto “Once you find yourself, you are
unstoppable”, is grateful to Glocal Teen
Hero for having helped him understand
his full potential.
He reminisces the time he won the title
of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2016 and
Mr. Narottam Aryal, one of the jury told
him how the award is not an award as
much as it is a responsibility. He
represented Aptech Company, Nepal in
South Asia Leadership program
organized by Common purpose in
Mumbai India in May 2017. He also took
the leadership of various social work
programs in Nepal (providing support
for flood victims in Saptari, Nepal; and
established a Library in Kakani, Nepal
along with hygiene campaign in
different districts of Nepal.
Development of Sachin Dangi
After winning Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2017, Sachin, today, serves as a President of
ShareMyWrite, Ambassador for New York Academy of Sciences and also as an Ambassa-
dor for Oya Opportunities. Besides this, he is an Ambassador for Glocal Khabar, the
Country Representative for Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp 2nd Edition, and Rover
at Nepal Scouts as well as an amateur coder and a writer. He also received a letter of
appreciation from Ministry of Population and Environment for his device that measured
the level of carbon dioxide in the environment and the number of trees that needed to
be planted to minimize the effects caused by it.
He has represented himself as a Youth Speaker for the Asia-Pacific session on develop-
ing resilient and sustainable communities at UN ECOSOC Youth Forum 2018 in the UN
Headquarters, New York. Likewise, his team from New York Academy of Sciences won
the Future City Challenge. “The proudest moment of my life was when I found out that
my team had gotten selected for the Future City Challenge. This was the first time I’d
taken part in a challenge of such a large scale. Among 60,000 applicants, 7500 were
selected and I was one of the 6 who won the challenge. It still feels unreal when I think
about it,” he says.

Glocal Teen Hero Concept Note 2019

  • 1. GLOCAL TEEN HEROIN SEARCH OF FANTASTIC TEENS
  • 2. ABOUT Glocal Teen Hero Glocal Teen Hero (GTH) is a platform that accolades the teenagers and hoist them by giving them an opportunity to share their initiation and creativity. GTH is a platform that is exclusively for the teenagers. We aim to empower the teenagers and give them an opportunity to lead their endeavors, bridge them to the industry leaders for collaborations, motivate them to dream big and always follow their heart and passion. Objectives We aspire to bring forth the ordinary yet, passionate, fantastic and change-making teenagers. More than a program or a project, GTH is a journey where every journeyer has an experi- ence and learning worth sharing while also motivating their peers. Years of Completion GTH started four years back on 2015 targeting teenagers of Kathmandu valley only. In the second year, it reached to teenagers across nation with an activation program in different cities to reach out to teenagers directly. The third year marked the initiation of Glocal International Teen Conference together with Glocal Teen Hero and the fourth was a great continuation of the legacy. How we do it: GTH starts with a call for application in the first round. After that, Glocal’s 20 under 20 are selected. The Finalists are selected before the Grand Award Gala. These Finalists go through the compe- tency development trainings and grooming. At the end, the Glocal Teen Hero is announced amidst an Award-gala. The evaluation is done through the submission of a document of evidence of work and interview by jury. Partners and Supporters From the inception of Glocal Teen Hero to this date, the ability, works and enthusiasm has created a great impres- sion in the society today. The stereo- type for the teenagers being a child has now created a change in the society. This change in the teenagers and the recognition to these teenagers through this platform has increased the trust of the partners and supporters by 80%. Trusted by 5 partners in 2015 to 24 in 2016, bringing down 2017 to have 26 partners which has brought this project to gain trust by 32 partners in 2018. 5 24 26 32 2015 2016 2017 2018 Partners
  • 3. IMPACT Impact Created GTH is a unique concept and is one of a kind as it is exclusively for teenagers. Teenage is the transitional phase between childhood and adulthood. So, teenag- ers are often underrated or not trusted. Thus, the value is created in ‘recognition through trust.’ The project also demonstrates an example to the people and soci- ety on how teenagers can create an impact and they should be given an opportu- nity and chance to grow. With four years of GTH, we have witnessed an excep- tional growth in teenagers and their contribution to society are praise worthy. 2015 98 Teenagers 2016 281 Teenagers 2017 321 Teenagers 2018 532 Teenagers Qualitative Aspects (Participation) GTH in this past years have witnessed exceptional teenagers who have great achieve- ments and dared to follow their dreams. These teenagers always seek to explore, learn and create an impact. Today, teenagers are causing a global stir by influencing, directing, leading thereby, creating an impact. The flip side of the coin is there are no platforms that is exclusively for teenagers where they can showcase their initiation and creativity. There are many such teenagers example of trying to create an impact and are in need of a motivation. GTH aspired to create a platform for teens where they nurture their dreams and get a motivation to follow their passion. We aspired to create a community of like-minded teenagers who are also the future leaders. These were the impactful teenagers who started early eventually becoming the game changers who defied the stereotype of society that teenagers are impractical and their ideas are naĂŻve just like them. Some of the change makers; teenagers who got selected were:

Featur- ing few of our teenagers; their success, growth and development after the recogni- tion of Glocal Teen Hero platform; Growth of Bipana Sharma: After becoming the very first Glocal Teen Hero, Bipana feels that the efforts she has put in to have become even more influen- tial and that too in a national scale. Bipana won the 13th Formosan Girl Awards in 2015 in Taiwan after winning Glocal Teen Hero in 2015. Winning the award made her even more responsible and strengthened her resolve to fight for the rights of children. Bipana proudly says that before her, a child-friendly community was just a con- cept but because of her efforts, she has set a milestone which is a big achievement for her. In her own words, she warmly says that Glocal Teen Hero helped her realize that she was made for something big, and it was the very platform that gave her the required boost that she needed to become an influence to other people to help con- tribute towards a child-friendly Nepal. She also worked together with the Dhur- mus Suntali Foundation and starred in a movie titled ‘Jyoti’ which sheds light on her journey, and the difficulties that many girls like her are facing in her hometown. Change in Albina’s community Albina says that before she participated in Glocal Teen Hero, no one really believed in her work. She says that the people at Glocal Teen Hero believed in her when others didn’t. “I got the title of a ‘Social Activist’ from Glocal Teen Hero. This pushed me to uplift the conditions of women in my community more strongly. After Glocal Teen Hero I was able to find my voice and impact even more people and help more women,” she says. After Glocal Teen Hero, she says the people who hadn’t been paying attention to her now started to give her time and her works began to influence more people. She now says she has been able to link with other people who share the same goal. Realization of Shantosh Lammichhane: After being a part of Glocal Teen Hero, Santosh claims the platform helped him explore himself more. Glocal Teen Hero helped him realize what he was truly capable of.
