Globalstar and Iridium satellite networks were tested in Camas, Washington in November and December 2015. Voice calls on Globalstar averaged 40 minutes in length while Iridium calls averaged 20 minutes. A 500KB file was transmitted over Globalstar in 8 minutes 30 seconds at a rate of around 8.5 kbps, meeting expectations. Issues were encountered with Iridium voice call drops and texting, and data speeds were found to be significantly slower than advertised.
