LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Global Explorer 2014
25. The Trouble Is….
• I’ve never done it before
• It’s different
• It’s too messy
• I can’t find the materials
• The IWB isn’t working
• Too much Chinese, not enough English
• Students don’t understand what to do
• The students won’t pay attention
• Etc….
Global Explorer 2014
26. Lessons Learned
• Try out the project yourself before you go to
class.
• Everything will take longer for the students
to do than you think it should!
Global Explorer 2014
27. Lessons Learned
• If the students are going to make
something, show the students a
finished example.
• If they are supposed to be creative, then show
a range of examples.
• Some will copy the examples while
others will follow the basic idea to
make their own.
Global Explorer 2014
28. • Demonstrate (model) the key steps.
• Break down instructions or steps into small,
comprehensible pieces.
Lessons Learned
Global Explorer 2014
29. • Only distribute supplies after giving
instructions.
Global Explorer 2014
Lessons Learned
30. • Figure out how you would direct
someone to do the project if you had zero
shared language.
• In the classroom add language that is
appropriate for the student level, up to and
including natural, authentic
speech.
Global Explorer 2014
Lessons Learned
31. • Is there a time limit for completing the
project?
• Display a countdown timer on the IWB
Global Explorer 2014
Lessons Learned
32. • Keep students on task by:
-walking around the room and asking individuals
or teams about their projects
-reminding students what they still need to do
• This is a great way to encourage and generate
relevant English!

According to Rod Ellis, a task has four main characteristics:[4]
A task involves a primary focus on (pragmatic) meaning.
A task has some kind of ‘gap’ (Prabhu identified the three main types as information gap, reasoning gap, and opinion gap).
The participants choose the linguistic resources needed to complete the task.
A task has a clearly defined, non-linguistic outcome

Explain the Step concept
There are 6 books for each age group
Step1 to Step6
Step 1 & 2 = Low
Step 3 & 4 = Mid
Step 5 & 6 = High

Bullet points will not come up until a single click is made. You may want to give the question and ask for trainees’ suggestions before giving the suggested answer. Don’t worry if this definition seems too complex (see next slide).
For this slide, you may want to ask the question and then put the trainees into small groups to discuss the question and to give feedback. After this you can give the suggested answers.
Here are some suggestions of potential problems which may be encountered by teachers doing Project Work. These may be given in addition to the list(-s) which the trainees made during slide 5.
The remaining slides contain practical tips for conducting Project Work.
A note to the second point – care must be taken in matching expectations of the level and type of language which the students might be expected to produce with the nature of the project itself. If the project is quite simple, then complex language should not necessarily be expected.
