There are multiple emerging platforms for action, advocacy, and knowledge-sharing around MHM including global advocacy days such as Menstrual Hygiene Day, discussions regarding a MHM in Ten strategy to lay out priorities for the next 10 years, the WASH in Schools Partnership which includes MHM as a key priority, and the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals conversation. Many organizations are developing guidance, tools, and other resources for those interested in effective ways to implement MHM in Schools. Sample resources include operational guidelines from Save the Children, virtual conferences held by UNICEF and Columbia University, and a recent study on MHM with school-based recommendations for action by UNICEF and Emory University.

I aim to empower the local indigenous and non Indigenous adolescent girls in my country and their community members through “Campaign for Menstrual Hygiene " program so that the adolescent girls can live healthier lives and have more equal chances to reach their life potential. Women empowerment is an important subject for the Indigenous Minority communities in Chittagong Hill Tracts. Often lack of knowledge in Menstruation is causing or acting as an obstacle in women empowerment such as dropping out from schools because they are ashamed of speaking out about their abdominal pain and lack of access to hygiene products and water during their menstruation period. Through this program I and my team aim to promote awareness on menstruation, hygiene, sanitation ,sexual and reproductive health issues among adolescents girls through different educational sessions so that a positive attitude will come regarding sexual and reproductive health among them. Further, they will be able to express their difficulties to health workers and family, friends during the adolescent period without any hesitation because these issues are often culturally sensitive.

As we learn from SDGs and F4D, the targets to achieve SDGs require billions to trillion. This will only be possible if we engage all stakeholder. As per cascade model, a government must consider public-private partnership as the priority. Therefore, my target audience will be the decision makers namely government. The government must mobilize the domestic resources available to meet its development needs. This project will talk about a major issue of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and its relation to the economy of a country at large. Many research and data are available to substantiate the ill-effects of poor management of menstruation. However, we have hardly achieved any milestone to address this issue mainly for the "not so well to do" population. Many rural and urban slum girls fail to avail basic rights and services because of this issue. This presentation encourages the decision makers to consider this concept for enhancing economic activity that can meaningfully meet the demands for its needy population.

Menustration Health is one such phenomenon that often struggles against social stereotypes. As a result, only a few females in our society have the privilege of dignified menstruation health.
Menstruation hygiene management is not only crucial for sound reproductive health but also equips the females to enjoy their lives to a greater extent. However, the menstruation hygiene related products in the market are either too high-priced (beyond the affordable range of poor), or the quality of products are often sacrificed if provided at a low price. Moreover, women are sometimes unaware of the available product in the market.
The menstruation hygiene product has immense potential in the Indian market mainly because of its demographic characteristics and growth in female employment. Considering the importance of the emerging market situation, the slides discuss the market potential, challenges, and possible business model for menstruation hygiene products in India.

This study aimed to assess awareness of menstrual hygiene and its relationship to UTIs and RTIs among adolescent girls in Dharavi, Mumbai. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 140 girls aged 13-19 using questionnaires. The results showed that while most girls were aware of menstrual hygiene practices, awareness of its importance in preventing infections was low. Many social factors like cost, beliefs, and lack of privacy hindered proper practice of menstrual hygiene. The study concluded that awareness of menstrual hygiene exists but is not effectively translated into practices due to various social barriers.

Affordability and access to sanitary pads will be increased by providing low-cost pads under the Menstrual Hygiene Scheme. Caregivers will be educated about the importance of sanitary pads through Public Service Announcements. Menstrual Hygiene Day 2017 Final Report
For the first time, Indonesia celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28 May 2017. Various international and national organizations, under a coalition named WASH Network, are working closely with the Government of Indonesia to disseminate the importance of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) at schools. There are at least six organizations, such as UNICEF, Plan International Indonesia, SNV, Wahana Visi Indonesia, GIZ Fit for Schools, and SPEAK Indonesia that jointly supports the Menstrual Hygiene campaign with Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) and Ministry of Health (MoH). Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is a problem for adolescent girls in low- and middle-income countries. MHM refers to the practice of being well informed about menstruation and its cause, maintainence of good hygiene during menstruation, and use of clean absorbents to absorb menstrual blood that can be changed privately, safely, hygienically and as often as needed for the duration of the menstrual cycle. It also involves their safe disposal. Management of menstrual hygiene is crucial for an adolescent girl and woman to live healthy and productive lives with dignity. MHM is especially important for adolescent girls because of the linkage between MHM and school attendance. However, limited access to accurate information and products for sanitary hygiene makes menstruation a distressing experience for adolescent girls and women, especially girls attending school. In most of the developing countries including India, many adolescent girls and women do not have access to basic facilities such as safe and hygienic absorbents, running water, and even toilets to maintain the menstrual hygiene (Shah et al., 2013)

There are at least six organizations, such as UNICEF, Plan International Indonesia, SNV, Wahana Visi Indonesia, GIZ Fit for Schools, and SPEAK Indonesia that jointly supports the Menstrual Hygiene campaign with Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) and Ministry of Health (MoH). This report highlight activities conducted, challenges and achievements of the campaign.

Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is a problem for adolescent girls in low- and middle-income countries. MHM refers to the practice of being well informed about menstruation and its cause, maintainence of good hygiene during menstruation, and use of clean absorbents to absorb menstrual blood that can be changed privately, safely, hygienically and as often as needed for the duration of the menstrual cycle. It also involves their safe disposal. Management of menstrual hygiene is crucial for an adolescent girl and woman to live healthy and productive lives with dignity. MHM is especially important for adolescent girls because of the linkage between MHM and school attendance. However, limited access to accurate information and products for sanitary hygiene makes menstruation a distressing experience for adolescent girls and women, especially girls attending school. In most of the developing countries including India, many adolescent girls and women do not have access to basic facilities such as safe and hygienic absorbents, running water, and even toilets to maintain the menstrual hygiene (Shah et al., 2013)

Presentation On Early Marriage
The present study made an attempt to gain insights on determinants and psychosocial consequences of early marriage on rural women. Samples of 300 women who married early and have completed 5 to 15 years of married life were taken from 20 villages of district Bhilwara, Rajasthan as it has highest instances of child marriages. In depth investigation employed the use of interview, FGDs, observation and case study method. Research was based in district. Baseline Proforma and SES scale (self developed) was used to get the necessary details regarding the socio-economic status and demographic characteristics of respondents and their families. DEM scale (self developed), PSC Scale (self developed) and life satisfaction scale (Alam & Shrivastava, 1973) were used for data collection. Statistical test i.e. ‘z’ test, ANOVA, Regression & Pearson’s ‘r’ were applied to find out the results.
The findings of the study revealed that age at marriage is governed by various components of socio-economic status with traditions & customs, lack of education, childhood residence and castes. Effect of mass media was not found as hypothesized. Media is only meant for entertainment by rural people. The study also highlighted psycho-social consequences (PSC components) of early marriage. It was found that child marriage increases exploitation of girl child and loss of her adolescence along with denial of education & freedom, inadequate socialization & personal development and violence & abandonment. Access to contraception is highly correlated with age at marriage i.e. the lower the age at marriage lower the knowledge and less access of contraception.
The multiple regression analysis in predicting age at marriage and its determinants reveal that the Beta coefficient reflect the socio- economic status of the family and in which a girl belongs has more considerable contribution in terms of early marriage while traditions and customs follow the socio-cultural perseverance in predicting age at marriage. It is also depicted from the regression analysis that the ill consequences of early marriage in earlier ages have more awful effects on girl child. On the whole, it was found that early marriage itself means exploitation of girl child and loss of adolescence. This factor is highly significant in all studied age groups. They are treated as homely bird which means confined to four walls of house. Overall dissatisfaction level is high with the respondents who get married at the early age. There are significant correlation found between determinants and psycho-social consequences of early marriage and inter-correlation among LS and SES components.

of the world’s student population: 1.54 billion children,
including 743 million girls. School closures and the wider
socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 on communities
and society also disrupt children’s and young people’s
normal support systems, leaving them more vulnerable
to illnesses and child protection risks such as physical
and humiliating punishment, sexual and gender-based
violence, child marriage, child labour, child trafficking and
recruitment and use in armed conflict. Girls and other
marginalised groups, particularly those in displaced settings, are particularly affected.
As governments prepare to reopen schools and other
learning sites, ministries and school communities must
minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within
learning spaces and address the learning inequalities and
protection concerns exacerbated by COVID-19 school closures, particularly for girls and other marginalised groups.
Lessons learned from the COVID-19 school closures
must inform disaster and emergency preparedness for
future outbreaks of COVID-19 alongside other contextually
specific hazards that might further jeopardize children’s
rights to learn, be safe and survive. The school reopening process offers a unique multi-sectoral opportunity
for governments and school communities to build back
better, address gender inequalities and strengthen the
resilience of the education system. An inclusive, participatory process can help bring all children and young people

Over the past decade, the child-friendly schools (CFS) model has emerged as UNICEF’s signature means to advocate for and promote quality education for every girl and boy. Child-friendly schools enable all children to achieve their full potential. As a part of a Global Capacity Development Programme on CFS, UNICEF has developed the Child Friendly Schools Manual, a reference document and practical guidebook to help countries implement CFS models appropriate to their specific circumstances.
Community Engagement and Levels of Part
Community engagement in education is recognized as vital for achieving quality education for all. Successful engagement empowers communities to participate in many aspects of education support. Community involvement in school management has been shown to increase accountability and outcomes. Local understanding and ownership of education initiatives fosters long-term sustainability and culturally sensitive approaches. The project aims to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy among students to reduce dropout rates. It will integrate topics on teenage pregnancy into existing HOPE lectures and conduct an awareness campaign. Policy Integration: A Piece of the Puzzle
This presentation was given as part of a side-event at the 2014 Water and Health Conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: Pioneering Programming Approaches for Integrating WASH and Nutrition convened by FHI360 USAID/WASHplus, Action Against Hunger, and the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program. Integration of WASH and nutrition must happen at the policy level as well as the programmatic level in order to make a sustainable, lasting impact on child health.
Multiple-Use Water Services (MUS): Toward a Nutrition-Sensitive Approach
Multiple-use water services (MUS) is a participatory, integrated approach to water management that supports both agricultural production and domestic activities at or near the home. One of its principle strengths is that it overcomes traditional barriers between the domestic and productive water sectors.
MUS has the potential to bridge agriculture and nutrition through water use: enhance crop production and household income, increase access to diverse foods, decrease disease transmission, and empower women and communities through income generation and time and labor savings. Additional nutritional benefits from MUS may be linked to safer drinking water and improved hygiene.
With emerging evidence suggesting that stunting cannot be addressed without also focusing on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), SPRING wanted to better understand current WASH and water strategies that sought to bridge agriculture and health to reduce undernutrition at the community, farm, and household levels.
Pulling on examples from the field, this report highlights some opportunities and challenges around linking MUS to improved nutrition and outlines some promising practices for making MUS more nutrition-sensitive.

This webinar will introduce draft resolution guidelines and explores next steps for resolution through brief presentations and moderated discussion.

Integration of WASH and Nutrition: Successes, Challenges, and Implications fo...
The relationship between water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and nutrition is well-known and well-documented in the literature. Lack of WASH causes diarrheal disease and is associated with environmental enteropathy. Both of these inhibit the absorption and use of calories and nutrients, causing undernutrition. In turn, undernutrition makes children more vulnerable to enteric infections like diarrheal disease.
It is recognized that WASH and nutrition programs are both necessary to achieve improved health outcomes. Studies have shown that the most effective interventions will be those that combine both improved nutrition and infection control and prevention efforts. However, there is
limited evidence on how WASH and nutrition programs are integrated in the field, what barriers these programs face, and what stakeholders believe to be necessary for successful integration.
This study explored this integration to identify barriers to and necessary steps for successful integration of WASH and nutrition programs.Participants identified a total of 14 barriers or challenges and a total of 11 actions, strategies, or changes needed to support effective integration. The main barriers and needs are listed below.
Barriers:
- Insufficient or siloed funding
- Staff capacity and interest
- Knowledge of each sector
- Coordination between sectors
- Lack of evidence on impact of integrated programs
Needs:
- Comprehensive strategy
- Coordination between sectors
- Funding and donor support
- Evidence of impact of integrated programs
- Leadership
Integrating programs in public health is not an emerging concept, but has yet to be operationalized in WASH and nutrition practice. Below are several suggested initial steps toward effective integration of WASH and nutrition:
- Donors should support and fund integration in appropriate contexts through integrated funding streams
- Donors should fund operational research to generate the evidence base of the additive or multiplicative effects of integrated programs and to formulate a standard methodology for integration
- The WASH and nutrition sectors should improve knowledge sharing and cross-training
- Organizations and donors should design incentives through reporting or evaluation criteria for the WASH and nutrition sectors to work in collaboration toward common
goals, objectives, and targets
