2. History The history of Gibraltar portrays how The Rock gained an importance and a reputation far exceeding its size, influencing and shaping the people who came to reside here over the centuries. 11 April 1713 - The territory was subsequently ceded to the Crown of Great Britain in perpetuity by Spain under article X of the Treaties of Utrecht. Despite some military attempts by the Spanish to retake it in the eighteenth century, most notably in the Great Siege of 1779-1783, the Rock has remained under British control ever since The treaty stipulates that if the British crown want to get rid of Gibraltar should be offered the first territory to Spain

3. St. Michael’s Cave St Michael's Cave is the name given to a network of limestone caves located in the UpperRock Nature Reserveof Gibraltar, at a height of over 300 metres above sea level. Its name is derived from a similar grotto in Monte Gargano near the Sanctuary of Monte Sant’Angelo in Apulia, Italy, where the archangel Michael is said to have appeared. It is the most visited of the more than 150 caves found inside the Rock of Gibraltar receiving almost 1,000,000 visitors a year.

4. Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque The Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, also known as the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz-al-Saud Mosque or the Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is a mosque at southern tip of Gibraltar at Europa Point. The building was a gift from King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and took two years to build at a cost of around £5 million. It was officially inaugurated on 8 August 1997.It is the southernmost mosque in continental Europe, as well as one of the largest mosques to be built in a non-muslim country The mosque complex also contains a school, library,and lecture hall. It is the only purpose-built mosque in Gibraltar to serve the Muslims in the territory who number over 2,000; around 4% of Gibraltar's total population

5. Hotels The Rock Hotel The Bristol Hotel The Rock Hotel is an institution amongst Gibraltar Hotels and indeed the Mediterranean. Decorated in the colonial style Gibraltar's Rock In the Very Heart of Town, ideally situated for both the business traveller and the holidaymaker; major UK banks and shops just a stroll away. The Caleta Hotel The O’Callaghan Eliott Hotel It’s a beautiful hotel in Gibraltar in a great location, offering spectacular panoramic views of southern Spain and North Africa. It’s situated in the heart of the town's business and shopping districts, the visitor to this intriguing colony

6. Restaurants & pubs Da Paolo Charlie's Tavern on the Port An international cuisine with good atmosphere in Marina Bay. A restaurant with simple fare, international food and theme nights. Admiral Collingwood The Angry Friars A British-style pub with large terrace in 287 Main Street. An elegant pub in Marina Bay.

7. Beaches Gibraltar has six beaches and can generally be divided in Eastern and Western beaches. Those on the Eastern side are generally sandy and those on the Western side are typically rocky. Catalan bay Camp Bay Little Bay Western Beach Sandy Bay Eastern Beach
