This document discusses Drupal VM, a virtual machine for local Drupal development built with Vagrant and Ansible. It provides an overview of virtual machines and how they can benefit development by allowing teams to have identical environments. It also summarizes Vagrant, which automates the creation and management of virtual development environments, and Ansible, which automates software provisioning and configuration management. Drupal VM leverages these tools to provide a pre-configured virtual development environment for Drupal that includes Apache, PHP, MySQL, Drush, Drupal Console and other tools.

Making development environments not suck | #econfpsu #econfpsu16Tim Bracken
Why is it so hard to get a local development environment setup? Wouldn't it be nice to just sit down at your desk and start working instead of trying to figure out why vagrant blew up again? Or how about those times when you update PHP on your system but MAMP/WAMP still shows you using the old version? These experiences are consistently terrible for all developers. Even Sysadmins have a hard time getting vagrant to work half the time.

Ansible: Simple yet powerful IT automation toolsureshraj43
As businesses go digital, networked computing has been evolving rapidly. Earlier, system administrators had to manually install software, change the configuration, and manage every server manually.
Achieving Continuous Delivery: An Automation Storyjimi-c
Continuos Deployment is the act of deploying software constantly. The idea is if "release early, release often" is good, releasing very often is better. It's not trivial. Automation is part of the battle, and testing is another. Learn to use tools like Jenkins and Ansible to move from deploying software once a month to 15 times every hour, and why you'll want to.

Ansible is an IT infrastructure automation tool for configuration management, application deployment and continuous delivery. It is an open source tool.
OpenNebulaConf 2016 - The Lightweight Approach to Build Cloud CyberSecurity E...OpenNebula Project
In the era of Cloud Service and Internet of Things, information security has already become a transnational issue. In recent years, the large scale cyber attack via the connection of BotNet has become a thorny issue of Global information security. Taiwan is always the main target of international hackers due to the high dense of information devices and computers in campuses are always the favorite of hackers. To help tackling such an issue, the Ezilla, which is considered as a private Cloud toolkit ( integrated with OpenNebula), has been implemented by the CyberSecurity research team in the National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC), Taiwan. Through the Ezilla which leverages OpenNebula and CyberSecuirty techniques, Cloud users can easily customize and configure a specified Cloud security training environment. It is an extremely lightweight approach helping users to access virtual computing resources. The main feature of this project is simplifying the utilization of Clouds. Our goal is to make Cloud security scientists or users painlessly to run their own CyberSecurity jobs on Cloud platforms, including Cyber Defense Exercise, Malware Knowledge Base, etc.. Based on the proposed CyberSecurity Exercise Platform, we also develop new functions which are private Cloud information security training service, Captur the Flags (CTF) competition service, and virtual networking service for enterprise.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

What is Vagrant?
Vagrant provides easy to configure, reproducible, and portable work
environments built on top of industry-standard technology and controlled
by a single consistent workflow to help maximize the productivity and
flexibility of you and your team.
To achieve its magic, Vagrant stands on the shoulders of giants. Machines
are provisioned on top of VirtualBox, VMware or any other provider. Then
awesome and new tools such as Ansible can be used to automatically
install and configure software on the machine.

"I wrote Ansible because none of the existing tools
fit my brain. I wanted a tool that I could not use for 6
months, come back later, and still remember how it
worked.”
-Michael DeHaan

DRUPAL
Simply Clear
A simple automation language allows Ansible to be
used by anyone - sysadmins, developers, IT
managers. It's easy to write, read, maintain and
evolve - without gnarly scripts or custom code. It is
also used extensively in Drupal 8……YAML
20. ENTERPRISE
DRUPAL
Simply Fast
Ansible is so simple that it requires almost no learning
curve when you're getting started and no reeducation
when you come back. And because it's cloud-native
(relying on SSH keys with no software to install on
remote machines), you don’t have to worry about setup.
Prototype quickly. Automate faster.
21. ENTERPRISE
DRUPAL
Simply Powerful
Ansible is several tools in one: configuration
management, application deployment, workflow
orchestration and continuous delivery. Ansible
modules are a comprehensive toolbox for automation -
and they are bundled in Ansible core - batteries
included.
22. ENTERPRISE
DRUPAL
Simply Efficient
Ansible doesn't require an agent - it uses SSH (on
Linux/Unix) or PowerShell (on Windows). Not
having an agent means less software to manage.
It's lightweight and unobtrusive, and gets out of
the way when it's done.
23. ENTERPRISE
DRUPAL
Simply Secure
Not having an agent means that Ansible is
inherently more secure - with nothing running or
leftover on machines you manage. Ansible uses
built-in OS authentication and OpenSSH - the most
peer-reviewed security component available.
