2. Horror Genre
 Horror is a film genre seeking to elicit a
negative emotional reaction from viewers by
playing on the audience's primal fears.
 Horror films often deal with the viewer's
nightmares, hidden fears, revulsions and
terror of the unknown.
 Horror films generally overlap with the
fantasy, supernatural, and thriller genres.

3. Body Horror
 Body horror, biological horror, organic
horror or venereal horror is horror
fiction in which the horror is principally
derived from the graphic destruction or
degeneration of the body. Such works
may deal with disease, decay,
parasitism, mutilation, or mutation.

4. Demonic Horror
 The main convention of demonic horror
is to convey disequilibrium and it mostly
about the ideology of good versus evil.
It suggests that the world is uneven and
horrible and that there are evil forces
that undermine humanity.

5. Gothic Horror
 This will blend ideological ideas of
horror with the themes of romance in
order to connote a dark , mysterious
theme. It is a more cultural style of
horror as it has extreme themes of
romanticism.

6. Japanese Horror
 This sub-genre focuses on unique and
innovative storylines. It tends to usually
convey some parts of psychological
horror, with a lot of tension and
suspense throughout the film.

7. Lovecraftian Horror
 This horror emphasises the idea of
unknown horror, and plays on this in
order to convey mystery to the
audience. It mainly plays on the idea of
the unknown instead of gore.
Detachment from normality and
isolation are depicted regularly.

8. Monster Horror
 Usually adapted from horror literature,
it uses combinations of binary opposites
coming together in order to evoke a
sensation of both horror and terror
from the audience. Evil is represented
through the use of a monster, using an
unusual representation of what is
impure.

 Psychological horror is all about getting
inside the mind of the audience and
relies on the characters' fears and
emotional instability to build tension.

10. Slasher Horror
 Slasher is a subgenre of thriller and
horror film, typically involving a
psychopathic killer stalking and
murdering a sequence of victims in a
graphically violent manner, often with a
bladed tool such as a knife, machete,
axe, scythe, or chainsaw.

11. Space Goth Horror
 Space Goth is speculative fiction subgenre
blending forms typical to gothic horror and
science fiction. By definition, the genre
attempts to capture the dark atmosphere of
many of the works of Gothic fiction, but
incorporating elements of science fiction
involving the setting of outer space and the
concept of extra-terrestrials.

 Supernatural horror is a sub-genre of
horror which brings in elements of the
occult e.g. ghosts, immortal beings. Its
general intention is to scare people with
the use of the unknown.
