 The opening scene of the film Shutter island begins
with a very mysterious and idiosyncratic shot. The next
scene is filled with fog and this makes the audience
feel anxious. As the viewer does’t have a sense of
location they feel disorientated and want to know where
they are. The low orchestral music is used to to build
tension and make the audience feel scared.
