This power point was used by Dr. John Oakes as a follow-up lesson at the 2012 ICEC in Los Angeles on October 21, 2012. It is about the reasons the church in the first three centuries was able to conquer the known world for Jesus and a suggestion of how faithful Christians today can see the same thing happen in our world.
This is a lesson in the Crossroads programme, a discipleship programme written by Dr Kevin Smith and offered by the South African Theological Seminary <http: />. This lesson deals with the goodness of God.
Saying yes to divine call (Pst Richard Wanambuko)PERISKIARII1
Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, God is in the business of calling back man to: 1. A relationship With Him as a Son, as a Worshiper.
2. A call for Freedom. Man became a slave to sin and the devil...but Christ came to set the captives free so that we may enjoy the freedom God desires of us.
3. A call for Learning. We need to be students pursuing to know God, pursuing the knowledge of God. His disciples.
4. A call for service. God calls those He has freed to serve Him and serve one another.

Study 1 of "Bible Basics", a Bible study manual available as a free hard copy and also online from www.biblebasicsonline.com .
This study looks at God- His nature and character, His Name [is it Yahweh or Jehovah and does it matter], and also studies the Angels. Do we have guardian Angels, can angels sin etc.
The Glory of God is His goodness
When Moses asked God, Show me Thy glory - the Lord answered, I will make all My goodness pass before thee." Exodus 33:18, 19.
This the Lord did as recorded in Exodus 34:5-7
And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.
And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
In the light of His glory will we see our shame
In the light of His holiness, our sin I
In the light of His purity, our corruption
When we see that all these perfections are given in love through Christ to save us, it creates love within our hearts, and fear and love combine in reverence.
These views of self and God will lead us to choose God's will and way in preference to our own. It is this wisdom which leads to the keeping of the commandments of God.
Romans 2:12, James 2:10-12
For as many as have sinned without law
shall also perish without law: and as
many as have sinned in the law shall be
judged by the law;
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
The Glory of God is His character
That character is manifest in His holy law - the rule of his government.
In other words to render this glory to Him is to obey that law - or to submit to let that law work out in us God's character. Being that, fearing God and giving glory to Him is equivalent to fearing God and keeping His commandments. This is emphasized by the fact that the law of God is the great rule of judgment.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.How should we worship God
1 Chronicles 16:29, John 4:23, 24
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto
his name: bring an offering, and come
before him: worship the Lord in the
beauty of holiness.

Here meet the fourth of six entities accounted for in the final two chapters of John's Revelation. Truth to tell, Revelation merely hints at Israel's end-times story, for it is, after all, a book written to/for the churches. The full story of the Jews in the 70th Week traces an arc of suffering that begins with seeming peace and safety and ends with God's people seemingly on the brink of extinction. Nevertheless, as Paul says here and there: "But God . . . ! How God steps in to rescue and preserve His chosen people and how He turns their hearts to His Son as their Messiah should thrill every Christian. Gives me goosebumps!
Jacob prevails at Jabbok
After sealing a non-aggression pact with Laban, Jacob continued his journey homeward. He
met “angels of God” on his way and recognized that “This is God’s host”. Since he obeyed
divine instruction by departing Padanaram, God also ensured his protection and preservation
through the ministry of angels.

Jacob was in exile, in the process of fleeing from his vengeful brother. After 3 days into his 517 mile journey to Syria, he stops at a seemingly insignificant place to rest for the night. The dream he had that night was an unforgettable revelation from God, an amazing description of the coming Messiah. There are many details in this account that apply to us, both as Christian believers and as non-believers.
(Genesis 32:22-32) Jacob wrestles all night with a stranger - this marks a turning point in Jacob’s life! what lessons did Jacob learn? What lessons can we learn? (these lessons can change your life as well) — AUDIO / PPT / KEYNOTE / PDF - 1/15/2017

My definition of aliens is this: Aliens are non human intelligent beings who can interact with human beings. The Bible reveals at least 7 different such beings.
Genesis 30 describes how God uses circumstances and people in our lives to mold us and mature us. Often, God uses conflict. Certainly, this was the case for Jacob and his family. Jacob was a deceiver, a liar and a manipulator. God used his uncle Laban, who was also a deceiver, liar and manipulator to provoke change in Jacob. Conflict between two sisters, Rachel and Leah, Jacob's wives, Leah and Rachel, mirrored his relationship with his brother, Esau. God wasn't just working in the heart of Jacob. He was using the family dynamics to mold and mature each member of this family. He does the same with us today.
In many ways Jacob is a picture of every person. We were all by nature selfish, deceitful, "graspers". Jacob is a type of our human carnal nature. But, Jacob changed! One night he wrestled with the Lord and begged for a blessing. His blessing came in the form of a changed character, reflected in his new name: Israel. Israel is a picture of a person changed by God, someone with whom the Spirit of God dwells.
