Kelsey Coke conducted research to test whether gender still affects wages. She surveyed 20 employees, both male and female, at her mother's workplace. The results showed that on average, women earned $11.01 per hour while men earned $13.58 per hour. When asked questions about their jobs, the women appeared visibly bothered that they did not earn as much as male coworkers. The study supported Coke's hypothesis that gender inequality persists in wages and affects women's self-esteem at work.
