- 1. Gender Roles in Media By: Chris Henderson
- 2. My research topic is... I plan to research about how the media plays a role on gender roles in today's society. Media is everything, and many teens keep updated with the media and the latest trends. I want to research on how the media has an impact on males and females (specifically the youth). New trends grow everyday, and affects each gender differently. Society shapes people to what is expected out of each gender role, and I want to research the reasoning. Videos and photos impact each gender differently, especially on perspectives and behavior.

History of Gender Roles -Gender Roles started at the existence of human population. -”This needed more cooperation between the sexes in order to ensure survival of the offspring, and sex became not merely reproduction but also a cooperative venture” -First comparison was male and female brains. -Scientifically, male brains are bigger, but does it mean anything?
- 4. Players/Individuals involved in Gender Roles -Danish Economist Ester Boserup (1970) developed studies with division of labor. Females had less desire to work than males according to study. -Alesina, Giuliano (2012) showed studies of inequality in different countries with gender. -Alison Booth, Professor of Economics in Australia observed behavior and thinking differences in males and females.

A Viewpoint about Gender Roles I disagree with... -I disagree with the article, “6 Fascinating Gender Differences Between Men and Women at Work” (Science of People). -Some of the gender differences I disagree with, and some I agree with. -Males and females are not completely different, in the fact that we are all still human.
