Schemes like Ladli Laxmi Yojna, Gaon Ki Beti Yojna, Pratibha Kiran Yojna and Beti
Bachao Abhiyan provided opportunity to girls and women of Madhya Pradesh to
become self-reliant.

Usha Kiran Yojna started since the year 2008 in M.P the Protection of Women
from Domestic Violence Act 2005 gives women right for protection from domestic
violence and assistance. Under the Act, domestic violence means physical, sexual,
emotional and financial violence against a woman who is living or lived in a family
and her below 18- year children (boy/girl) by any male member/members of the
family.

Beti Bachao Abhiyan implemented in the state have proved successful in curbing
the tendency of female foeticide in M.P and changing the mindset of society
towards girls. The Chief Minister held road shows and Beti Bachao Raths were also
taken out in the districts with less sex ratio. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s
slogan “Beti Hai To Kal Hai” has made nation-wide impact.
• Women’s helpline 1090 has been started in the state from
January 1, 2013. Through it, prompt action is being taken
against the accused.
• Special women’s cell has been constituted in the state with a
view to providing prompt justice to women and punishment
to culprits of crimes against them. Additional DGP has been
made in-charge of women’s cell. Four regional women cells at
Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur have also been
constituted. Of these, posting of DIG-rank woman police
officers have been appointed in three regional women cells at
Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur
• Raise voice against the crime
• Donate in monetary or non-monetary form in NGOs which work for same
cause.
• Inculcate a sense of respect for women in the society you live in
• Avoid activities like stalking, photography without permission
• Develop a healthy & competitive work surroundings
• Only legislation and law enforcement
agencies cannot prevent the incident of
crime against women. There is need of
social awakening and change in the
attitude of masses, so that due respect
and equal status is given to women. It's
a time when the women need to be
given her due. This awakening can be
brought by education campaign among
youth making them aware of existing
social evils and the means to eradicate
same.
