This document discusses the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), a tool used to assess a person's level of consciousness after head trauma or during certain medical conditions. The GCS evaluates eye opening, verbal response, and motor response on a scale of 3-15, with lower scores indicating more severe brain injury. Scores of 13 or higher signify minor injury, 9-12 is moderate, and 8 or lower is severe. The GCS can help identify hypoxia, hypoglycemia, head injuries, neurological diseases, or issues during or after anesthesia.
