This website was designed for preschool-aged children and is based on research into effective website design for this age group. The main page provides an overview and directions to different sections of the site through clearly labeled navigation. Large fonts and colors are used to make navigation child-friendly. The two main sections, games and printables, are highlighted to be easily accessible. Background music and pictures accompany text to aid children who cannot read yet. Over 30 games and activities cover topics like letters, numbers, and are appropriate for young kids.

4. The colors and large fonts are to make the navigation of the site easier and more child-friendly. In the middle of the page, in highlighted boxes, there are links to the Games page and the Printable page. Since these are the two main aspects of the website, and are for the children using it, I wanted to highlight them further and make them easily accessible. Research shows that accessibility is a huge factor within children’s website design. The pictures next to the two main tabs are there to show what the word says, since this is a children’s website and all the users may not be able to read on their own yet.

5. The music, as research also shows, helps to keep kids minds off the fact that they are learning. Playing games and listening to music makes the experience fun! I chose to put 3 different children’s songs in, that way there is some aspect of choice, but it is also clear to the parents that all the songs are appropriate.
