THE STARTING FIVE
1. Deondre Ray has had 10 or more points in his last nine games and has
averaged 16.5 points, good for third best in the LSC.
2. Cameron Lee is ninth in the nation with a 50.7 percent three-point
percentage; he is the LSC leader at the arc.
3. Despite a poor shooting night at Commerce, CU has a 51.5 team field
goal percentage, the Aggies are eighth nationally but second overall in the
LSC with Angelo State leading the nation with a 55.6 percentage on the
floor.
4. DJ Jackson is eighth nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio with a 3.50; on
Saturday, Jan. 3 at home against Northwestern Oklahoma he had a career
high 11 assists.
5. Cameron is on top of the LSC with a 42 percent three-point percentage.
FIRST TIP: Last season, Tarleton State swept the home-and-home series against the Aggies and in Lawton last
year the Texans came in number-2 nationally and a free throw with three seconds left in overtime proved to
be the difference in a 75-74 TSU win. The Texans control the series 11-23 over Cameron but in Lawton it is 8-8
in the senior college era. At home this season Cameron is 6-1 overall and 63-24 in the seven seasons Head
Coach Nate Gamet has been with the Aggie program.
On Wednesday, at Texas A&M-Commerce the Aggies could not get anything going suffering a 86-53 loss, in
what would be the largest margin of victory against a CU team since Nov. 17, 2007 at Pittsburg State (85-50).
Cameron who was second in the nation in shooting percentage heading into A&M-Commerce was held
to 29 percent, a 41 game low. The Aggies would have two in double-figures with Deondre Ray netting 19
points and Jamaal Brantley picking up 10.
ABOUT TARLETON STATE: The match up with Cameron will be Tarleton’s second official road contest of the
season with the Texans falling at Angelo State, 78-60. Last time out, Midwestern State handed Tarleton their
fifth loss in the last five seasons at home in a tight 78-76 barn burner.
Tarleton’s bread-and-butter is defense, allowing teams just under 60 points a game, which is a league best
and fourth in the nation. The Texans make 47.6 percent of their shots and they are 37 percent from long
range. In rebounding, Tarleton is +3.8 in the rebounding margin, while averaging 35.5 boards a contest.
Sharing the ball is something the Texans to plenty of with five players averaging about 10 points a game;
Michael Hardge and Mo Lee both having the team high with 11.9 points.
HOME COOKING: In seven games this season, the Aggies have averaged 91.4 points per game and have
out-rebounded teams 38 to 28 in Lawton. From long range, Cameron is hitting 44.8 percent of their shots
with over nine three-pointers a game. On the defensive side, CU is holding teams to 37 percent from the
field, while averaging six blocks, and four steals in the seven home contests this season.
SHARING THE BALL: Against Dallas Christian on Dec. 20 and Northwestern Oklahoma on Jan. 3 the Aggies
had back-to-back games with a player having 10 more assists. Both Bruce Barron and DJ Jackson dished
out 11 assists and it was the first time in at least the last decade a CU player has had 10 more for assists in
consecutive games.
COMING UP: Cameron will remain at home on Wednesday to host Texas A&M-Kingsville at 7:30 p.m. in the
Aggie Gym.
