• In the 21th Century, it will be essential to understand the behavior of
large-scale environmental, ecological, social and technological systems
• The tools for studying individuals systems will include modeling,
simulation, and analysis using advanced algorithms and computing
resources
• The system management problem will be made more difficult by the
complex interaction between systems in different domains (e.g. impact of
technology on society, ecology and environment)
• The successful prediction and control of these interactions will require
collaboration of interdisciplinary teams across the layers of Gaia 2.0
