3. The Great Aussie Bush Camp programs are designed to adhere to “Their Mission”
of striving to create programs that are:
– through experiential learning – hands on, active, all involved!
– stepping out of your comfort zone and doing things you
have never done before - try new things!
– not everyone excels at the same things, through diversity you can
achieve outcomes that you never thought were possible – personal best!
– our programs are designed in partnership with schools to achieve
quality educational outcomes – educational!
– we create our programs to include activities and experiences
that students will remember for years to come – once in a lifetime!

5. The Great Aussie Bush camp has a huge range of on-site activities that are
tailored to our school requirements. All the activities are designed to be
challenging, yet fun.
With over 40 separate on-site activities on offer and a range of off-site
excursions in the vicinity we have enough options to cover a variety of
educational and experience requirements.
Activities will be confirmed closer to the date!
Each activity is designed to specifically challenge students in a different way.
Some activities are designed to instill confidence at heights, some are designed
to promote more positive teamwork skills and others build coordination.
All activities, however, are different and the effect upon each student will
depend on the individual way they interact with the activity.
All of the activities at camp are operated on the 'Challenge by Choice'
principle. That means each individual chooses how much they participate in
the activity and ultimately how much they are challenged.
8. The cost of the excursion is $245 per student and $265 for the parent helpers.
Part payments can be made.
Final Payments MUST be made by FRIDAY 7th AUGUST. This is to allow us
time to complete risk assessments, liaise with the Bush Camp in terms of dietary
requirements, medical needs, boy/girl ratios etc.
The parent helpers are: Scott Nemeth, Toni Langlands, Joe Holz, Cory
Hanson, Jandy McCandless, Justin Enright, Theresa Element and Hayley
Williams.
These parents are required to have a current Working With Children
Check. Please see the office staff for assistance with this.
Due to the overwhelming response we anticipate all Stage 2 teachers will
attend. (YA!!!)

Our accommodation may be cabins, however it is more likely to be tents. The tents have concrete
floors and sturdy metal frames. Regardless, it can still be cool in both types of accommodation at
this time of year.
As these dates are quickly approaching, we thought it would be handy to have the recommended
gear checklist before winter clothing disappears from the shops. As it is a camp, the students’
clothes will get dirty so appropriate yard clothes are OK.
What
to
pack!
16. A price list will be sent home soon. It is entirely optional.
The souvenir order must be placed in an envelope with the correct money and be
given to the teacher on/ or before the day of departure.
Reinforce- it is in your comfort zone
It is normal for students and parents to feel apprehensive about it.
often kids will say they are sick on the day of leaving
More than one school there.
It’s well scheduled different groups do different things at different times
We do not know where our accommodation will be yet- tents or cabins
Once we have this information students will be split into groups with strategic areas for boys and girls.
Staff are located close by and students are made aware of their location
If in a cabin- they have an ensuite. Talk to kids about respecting privacy, some kids like light on- so don’t question it just go with it
If in tents there are communal showers and toilets. We are generally scheduled to shower when other schools are at dinner.
Pack thongs just for shower.
Toilet plan in place for night- if in tents -must have a buddy- must get a teacher
They are very conscious of safety.
Kids and adults need to wear the appropriate equipment.
Many activities involve a harness- think about the length and thickness of shorts with these types of activities- for comfort.
Short shorts, singlet tops and crop tops are not permitted
ONCE we know our activities there are great photos and videos on their website.
Our students will be split into 3 mixed groups for the activities. They will have input into who they would like to be with- it can be students from other classes.
We can’t promise to meet all of their requests but we will certainly accommodate some of their wishes.
Parents will be in the group with their child however they are there to help everyone enjoy the experience.
You must be punctual with your notes and money
We would like to know everything about your child to help make this experience awesome- do they sleep walk? Are there toilet issues? Can they swim? We would hate to put 3 non swimmers into one canoe!
There are some parents with whom we will need to have a meeting- just to consolidate the risk assessment. WE will contact you soon.
There is a flow on effect and GABC expect certain information from us in return.
IF your child becomes sick after you have completed the forms please come and see us for a form to write the updates. WE NEED EVERYTHING IN WRITING
We will take liquid and tablet panadol to be administered IF needed- please indicate which one they require.
Talk to your child about having a go at all foods.
There is usually a bit of a range- if your child doesn’t like the meat on a hamburger encourage them to have a cheese bun at least
Eating time manners are essential- it is good manners to sit and wait until everyone has completed their meal
Students are responsible for cleaning up after themselves
They need to take their mess kit with them EVERYDAY.
They are EXTREMELY conscious of allergies
Students with puffers expected to carry their own in their day pack
LABEL everything- undies, socks
Think layers- we can be on the go from 6 in the morning till 9 at night.
Sun safe- no singlet tops or crop tops
Pack harness friendly pants- short, shorts are not permitted
Pack a couple of hats (not caps) and drink bottles
Mess kit- use an old library bag- label everything- it cant be disposable plates
A raincoat is essential
NO sprays- everything must be roll on due to allergies and asthma
Swimmers are on the list- I think our only water activity will be canoeing. I recommend that everyone wears boardshorts and a sea shirt or T-shirt with a hat. Shoes are expected- so a cheap pair of pull on shoes would be great.
IN the past I have seen parents pack each days clothes in a separate labelled shopping bag so the child knows.
