Immigration Reformation
The Immigration policy that is in place is majorly flawed. We have millions of
undocumented immigrants in the United States right now and we need to find a way to fix this
problem. There is no easy answer to this problem because a lot of solutions are costly and
shutting down the borders would hurt this country. My solution to this problem today is very
similar to the new immigration policy that’s in the senate right now. My plan is costly, but in the
long run I believe it will pay off.
First, I want to tackle the issue of illegal immigrants sneaking into the United States. Like
the immigration policy in the senate right now, I want a giant fence to be built along the United
States-Mexico border. This will prevent illegal immigrants from crossing by land. This will be
costly but it will open up new jobs for the building of this fence. I also want an increase in the
amount of border patrol along the border. This will also create amazing job opportunities for US
citizens. Another major issue is illegal immigrants getting in the Country by shipping containers.
To prevent this, I would want all containers to go through thermal sensing and that would detect
all illegal immigrants attempting to get in. I know this would be crazy expensive, but this is a
major problem that needs to be fixed. Once again, this will open up new jobs.
The process of immigrants getting a visa today is flawed and needs to be reformed. I
recommend a longer waiting period before they receive their visas and to charge a lot more on
these visas. Entering this Country should not be cheap and easy, making it expensive and hard

would make it so only those who have the money to and really want to get in this Country. Also,
when a visa is issued, we need to make sure they put where they will be at all times on a
document and what they’re going to do so if they do over stay the visa we can easily find them.
In the process of receiving a work visa, we need to only issue them one if they can prove they
have a job waiting for them. This will insure that they are productive members of the United
States that will be working.
Next is the issue of illegal immigrants that are already in the United States. Most of them
are here because they have over stayed their visas. To fix this, we need to enforce the visa time
better by having an agency track down these people and deport them from this Country. As an
incentive to make them not want to overstay their visas would be the fear of the new agency
deporting them. I would also recommend that those who overstay their visas to be put on a list
that never permits them from entering the Country again. This new agency would create
thousands of jobs and help with the illegal immigrants issue today.
Now the process of becoming an American citizen. This most definitely should not be an
easy process. They should have to take classes and pass several tests that prove they are
contributing members of society. All should be fluent in English and be able to say the Pledge of
Allegiance and National Anthem. I also believe all of these new citizens need to be educated at
least through High School. Also, there needs to be a huge wait on becoming a citizen to make
sure they actually want to do it. This would be a tough process, but those who really want to
become a citizen of the United States will do it.
I am no immigration genius and I know there are some flaws with these ideas, but this I
believe will help the United States. We are a Country built off immigrants but we need to stop
looking at us that way. We are our own Country and we need policies in place that show that.

For those who say we need to let all immigrants in because we are all immigrants is ignorant. My
solutions are costly, but we need to spend this money to improve our Country. These ideas will
create thousands of jobs and in the long run this will help our economy.
