Haitians celebrate the Day of the Dead by believing spirits still walk among the living and providing food and prayers will bring good fortune. It is customary for Haitians to paint themselves with white and black crosses and wear purple for the holiday. Haitians also traditionally praise the voodoo lord Baron Samedi during their Day of the Dead celebrations.
