The case for international investing looks interesting 6.5.2021 - Kurt S. Alt...Kurt S. Altrichter
For the past several years, "experts" have been predicting the return of international stock outperformance. So far, they’ve been wrong. Of course, foreign stocks will begin beating the S&P 500 again at some point in the future, but U.S. exceptionalism in the world equity markets has been in place for almost the entirety of the 2010s.
US Fed rate hike in September 2015: Who will be the top 4 winners and losers?Aranca
The much hyped US Fed rate hike likely to be in September 2015 will mark the end of an era of free money. While it brings the good news that the most powerful economy of the world is back on track and can sustain a rate hike, there may be certain repercussions for the global markets. Here’s our take on who may win, and who may lose.
One really cannot ignore the international stock markets or international stock exchange, especially when we are talking about global economy and the interdependencies of various economies on each other. Everyday before starting the trading journey, we are interested in how the US markets did yesterday, how the Asian markets are doing in the morning and what is the status of SGX Nifty, the Nifty product traded on the Singapore exchange? We predict whether we will go down, go up or remain flat for the day based on this information.

How Does the US Economy Affect the US Dollar?
When a Forex trader looks to the future in trading the US dollar, he or she watches for the factors that drive the currency higher and lower against others. One of the major factors is the strength of the US economy. How does the US economy affect the US dollar? The US dollar fell in value against other major currencies the other day when US retail sales missed estimates according to NASDAQ.
The U.S. Dollar was pressured against a basket of currencies on Monday after a government report showed retail sales data for September missed economists’ expectations.
A Commerce Department report on Monday showed that U.S. retail sales barely rose in September as a rebound in motor vehicle purchases was offset by the biggest drop in spending at restaurants and bars in nearly two years.
Other factors in the dollar’s decline were the prospect of trouble with Saudi Arabia in regard to the murder of Saudi reporter by Saudi security people and tightening of US Treasury yields.
Economic Reports That Affect the US Dollar
Investopedia explains how economic factors in an expansion can cause inflation which in turn weakens the dollar and how an economic contraction can cause deflation which makes the dollar more valuable. Forex traders who follow the fundamentals look at 5 reports that affect the dollar.
A broad range of economic reports are useful when conducting research on the dollar.
Keep in mind that the actual statistics are often less important than their direction (rising or falling) and their success or failure in meeting pre-release expectations.

Interest Rate Put Options
http://www.options-trading-education.com/24028/interest-rate-put-options/
With the possibility at hand that interest rates may fall, interest rate put options could be profitable. As with all options trading interest rate put options require a sound options trading strategy. Unlike trading options on stocks or commodity futures, trading interest rate put options do not have to do with a specific company or a commodity such as gold, corn or oil. Rather interest rates are driven by the economy and by the actions of the United States central bank, the US Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve is cutting back on its monthly bond purchases, the quantitative easing stimulus plan widely credited from keeping the country from falling into a long term depression. As the Fed stops pouring money into buying US Treasuries and corporate bonds it serves to let rates fall and the value of existing bonds to rise. With this factor at work one would jump on interest rate put options as rates would be falling. But, there are more factors in play that might make calls on interest rates profitable ventures.
Interest Rate Options
An interest rate option is a derivative contract. The value of that contract is based on interest rates, typically the ten year Treasury note. When traders believe that interest rates will go up they buy calls and when they believe that rates will fall they buy puts. A trader with a call contract makes money when interest rates rise and a trader with a put contract profits when rates fall.
China, Europe and Housing Starts
China has seen its growth rate slow down. The response of the central bank of China has been to buy US Treasuries. This drives up the value of the dollar on Forex markets and drives down the Chinese currency. In addition, it can serve to drive interest rates back up because of buying pressure on the market. In addition, the EU is still struggling to get out of the persistent recession on its Southern flank and its stimulus programs may also drive the dollar higher. And, economists are pleased on one hand that the value of family homes is on the rise and on the other hand that that rate of increase is leveling off. This means that people that were upside down on their mortgages are in better shape. And, what do these factors have to do with interest rates?
How Will Inflation Affect Your Investments?InvestingTips
Because inflation seems to be picking up this is important today. How will inflation affect your investments? Inflation is when prices within an economy go up from year to year. For the average person this economic concept is important because it tells us how quickly the purchasing power of money is eroded and how fast an-otherwise stable investment will decrease in value.

The stocks in this portfolio are the following: PepsiCo, Apple, Microsoft, Aritzia, and Amazon. An assessment was conducted to establish if the stocks should remain in the portfolio.
Stock Reviews and Discussion
If I review the investment in PepsiCo., the business has reflected a slight decrease in the stock price, as being traded daily on the floor, the reason which we can assume is the over all market turbulence, being caused by the Oil market, and it is directly impacting US economy, and hence reflecting the same on the stocks trade in the market.
Apple Inc., stock has also reflected a bit decline as directly related to activities being performed in the market, more over the share is constantly moving the range of $30 up/down, being range bound, hence reflects that the business is performing well, and keeping at the place in the market. Citing Chinese government data, Reuters recently reported that Apple sold just 494,000 iPhones in the country in February. That was a steep decline from the 1.27 million units the company had shipped in the prior-year period and the two million units sold in January. The situation was bad across the board, as overall smartphone shipments fell 54.7% annually during the month, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Microsoft has reflected a steady decline, although it is not much material, and market expectancy is to correct it, I believe the more effect on Microsoft stock price down fall is related to news spread in the market, that Bill Gates is resigning himself, from the position of the President and leaving the board, market sentiments are attached to this news, but I believe in coming few months, business is going to show tremendous growth in the shares value. I feel that Microsoft offers many types of shares like mutual funds holders, individuals, stakeholders and other institutional shares. With these shares they are often bought and sold. The rates of shares range 42.14% to 6.18%.
Aritizia has shown some of the great moment during the last tenure, touching up the higher side and then again the lower side, is a mixed up reaction, as it moved between range of $200-250 in few days, the reason of such movement is overall market performance, the oil war, and the Corona virus worldwide economic impact. The current state of our society has resulted in a very volatile market. In times like these investors may be cautious towards putting their savings into stocks. However, this is also a good time to buy at low prices. ATZAF has seen a decline in market price over the past month, however a significant amount of that decline can be attributed to nation-wide panic. Most of the clothing inventory held by Aritzia comes from Vietnam. Futures Markets : Softs and Financials
1. Futures Market Review : Financials and Softs New week starts, it is time for us – futures traders - to be back to review futures markets to see what should we note for our trading in the next few days. Are you ready? Let’s go!
2. First of all, we will stop by the Soft market to see what’s going on around there. As the US dollar strengthened over investor fears, the Brazilian real dropped significantly and since it is one of the important currencies to the pricing of soft commodities that is a big deal. It was a big factor this past week for coffee, sugar, oil and cotton.
3. And as long as there is more downside to come, all will remain under pressure this week as well. The other soft market, cocoa has its own set of circumstance, and all commodities seem to suffer from the impact of falling demand forecasts given the fear at work in the macro economy.
4. So expect more of the same this week, lower prices among the members of the soft complex. Individually, there may be technical attempts to rally. We are seeing higher prices in early trading this morning in several markets, but these should be used as selling opportunities, rather than signals that prices have flushed out the weakness and are ready to move higher.
5. In other words, soft markets are responding in sympathy to the recovery in the equity markets, and that is to be expected since the markets carry relationships. Worth mentioning is that they are however, not one and the same.
6. Commodities will react to events in the world economy and currency relationships, but they also will have their own unique fundamentals. Right now supply seems not to be the focus, the focus is rather on demand right now, and the fear of demand falling.
7. ***Chart courtesy Gecko Software’s Track n’ Trade Pro Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
8. Just leave the home of Soft, we will go next to Financial market. There will be some necessary points for us to note. The word that bothers this trader this morning is hope. This word is being thrown around which should not sit well with investors. The stock market may open higher on hopes that policymakers are putting new plans together to help with the debt crisis.
9. The hope that Greece does not default is where the focus lies. If a person is resting their families future on hope then one needs to take another look at how they formulate wealth.
10. Geithner seems concerned and believes that the U.S. is still fragile from the recession of 2008. He also thinks that if European nations default that the U.S. could have serious problems. Geithner also brought up that the U.S. will cut the deficit by 3 trillion in over 10 years.
11. Honestly, who cares about 3 trillion! This country spends more than 1 trillion a year. How about the U.S spends half of that and cuts 5-7 trillion. Maybe a flat tax for everyone so the people that have created success do not feel like they are bailing everyone else out?
12. The USD Index is down -0.19 to 78.31 and the Euro is down-0.0034 to 1.3473. The Euro may fall further but some may leave the dollar and buy stocks. A short term burst in the dollar does not mean it will keep going. The level of 1.2750 might be possible over the next few weeks.
13. Some believe a bull rally could come over the next few months and are positioning Europe and keeping cash available if this occurs. Because of limited time, I cannot share with you all the information on Futures markets. You can check for more at Pitguru Reviews this week.
14. ***Chart courtesy Gecko Software’s Track n’ Trade Pro Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
15. Disclaimer: Past performance is not indicative of future results. Trading futures and options involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors.
16. Fundamental factors, seasonal and weather trends, daily news, and other current events may have already been factored into the markets. The use of stop loss or contingent orders may not protect profits and may not limit losses to the amount intended. Certain market conditions make it difficult or impossible to execute such orders.
