Future Teach Summary And Analysis
One of the tips I plan to use for myself as a future teach is "To create a safe environment, show that you are human"(Koch, 2013, p 173). This is a
very important tip for me to use because as a teacher we always want to make sure that our students feel safe and that as their teacher we want to
keep them safe. The second tip I could use is "Who are the student? What types of homes, apartments, or other forms of housing arrangements do they
live in" (Koch,2013, p 173). This is another important tip to up hold as a future teacher because it is important to have a relationship with your
students, but to also learn a little bit about them everyday. The third tip I could use as a future teacher is " Offer Choices and be flexible" (Connell,
2013).

Passion To Teach For America
While my dedication to teaching at some capacity has been a lifelong passion, I would like to explain why I want to join Teach for America by starting
at the beginning of my own academic journey:
I could not read a sentence until I was in third grade, two to three full years behind my average peer. In addition to being hopelessly behind in both
reading and mathematics, I had terrible experiences with bullying. The combination of poor academic performance and social issues was deadly to
my ability to learn. It took a year and two teachers who were incredibly dedicated to my individual progress to catch me up to my peers. And that was
all I needed––two teachers who noticed and cared––to begin my work towards an eventual Ivy League education

Teach For America Essay
People are divided when it comes to discussing the issue of poverty worldwide especially in the United States. Poverty within the U.S is getting worst
because people are divided between the meaning of providing assistance to the poor and the welfare program. Many people want to assistance the poor
but not enough is getting done about it. People living in poverty is blamed for their poverty. They are seen as lazy and not hard working enough. The
system is design to blame the welfare program for people living in poverty, and as well as the individual in poverty. The new century and millennium

This is the same fate that's await Tabitha unless some opportunity come along. Since Tabitha Hicks is Alva Mae daughter, it easy to assume that the
same fate awaits her because of the way the economy is set up. People tend to have the same socioeconomic status as their parents. It's pass down
from generation to generation because people only have encounter with people who have the same socioeconomic status as well. The only person that
had major influence on Tabitha Hicks is rookie corps member of Teach for America (TFA) who was assigned to her classroom name Mark Patten.
Tabitha Hicks interaction with Mr. Patten change her perspective and provided her with better opportunity, and the ability to make wise decisions.
Mr. Patten first change Tabitha impression of white people when he visits her home and did not judge her. Not only did he not judge her, he also
helps her new glasses. He pays attention to how she was doing, and it was genuine (146). She explains that she never had anyone treat her that way
before, and she trusted him. This shows how the educational system is lacking because no one else notice until the new teacher Mr. Patten was
assigned to her classroom. It shows the lack of concern the school have for the students. One Example that shows that the educations system is lacking
is when Tabitha gym teacher message her on Facebook

Why Do Not Teach?
Why not teach? Individuals in the field may try to steer the future teachers away from the occupation. Many need to start thinking, is the
occupation of teacher really worth it? Is it worth the long hours, stressing over all the standardize testing and common core practice, trying not to
be mean but trying to stay away from being walked all over? In my opinion, I do not believe it is worth it. Going to college for four years, you learn all
you need to know to become a teacher but in the end, we might not be fully prepared as we should be with the baggage being a teacher comes with.
Although each work day has its set hours, teachers spend way more than the standard eight hours, working on school work. Being a teacher can at
times keep you in the building well before or after the final bell rings working on grading papers and a long list of other things. During a typical
work day, teacher's schedules are jammed packed with grading, teaching and lesson planning. When becoming a teacher, the work follows you home
no matter how far ahead you get on grading or lesson planning. "Teachers spend an average of 50 hours per week on instructional duties, including an
average of 12 hours each week on non–compensated school–related activities such as grading papers, bus duty, and club advising." (Association, 2002)
Thinking about how the work will always follow you home and long work days than some might imagine, is it really worth it? Working an average of

Teach Nursery Rhymes
ursery rhymes are a fun way to use your imagination and a wonderful way to teach your child how to read, listen, and speak. Nursery rhyme activities
are wonderful in teaching children at a party or in the classroom. Here are some great tips for teaching nursery rhymes:
Glow in the dark stars can be used to light up a dark room for Hey Diddle, Diddle. You can create a cow jumping over the moon and when the lights
go out, everyone will be reminded of this nursery rhyme. The glow in the dark stars are a great way to set the mood for nighttime when you are reading
other nursery rhymes to your child.
Most children will be familiar with nursery rhymes, but for those that aren't you should start with a nice introduction. When you are introducing

English is the second language in Malaysia, has been included as an official syllabus and taught as early as primary school education. These subjects

The level of a student in English subject usually measured by the ability to listen, speaks, read and write. English can be a very dreaded subject in school

It gives a different meaning. If you mistakenly write, it will have a significant impact on your writing. There are theories that say, knowledge of
grammar is superfluous for a successful communication because children are able to communicate without having any knowledge of grammar. Based
on this theory, grammatical knowledge is not required. However, if we as teachers do not emphasize grammar knowledge as part of the English
language dominates the whole process of learning, then it makes a difficult learning process. Comparative understanding of grammar has led to
different levels and interest in teaching English. Have detailed knowledge of grammar does not mean that students have mastery of speaking and
communicating. It's more to dominate part of the subjects that still require practice in terms of written and spoken.
Learning and teaching grammar includes not only a way to manipulate the presentation simple language, but also learn that there are rules in the
context of grammar. If teachers and students are communicating, they should be able to produce language in a way that is understandable. Grammar
can be taught together through listening, speaking, reading and writing. Teaching English as a communication can be implemented by teachers to

Social Entrepreneurship
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
When I was a kid, I could have been what people would now call a social entrepreneur or
socialpreneur. A lot of people would have fallen into this category. To help your school or
church or youth group, you may have sold chocolate bars door–to–door. People bought them,
even if they didn't like chocolate; because they knew the money would go to support a
worthy cause. Both the seller and purchaser are examples of social consciousness in action.
Now my own children, bring home their school fundraisers from school and we too buy the
over priced products, not because they are great products, but because it supports their
school, a good cause. Today's socially conscious entrepreneurs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1994, Time Magazine named
Wendy among the 40 Most Promising Leaders Under 40. Wendy was named one of
America's Best Leaders by U.S. News and World Report in 2006. As " Ian Huschle, one of
Wendy Kopp's first employees said ''I heard a great definition of an entrepreneur yesterday,
as someone who looks at the calculations, sees that they don't add up, and goes forward
anyway, on the conviction that they'll work out. That's what Wendy does.'' Quoted by Ms.
Kopp herself, she said ''I look at where am I going to have the most impact –– if I do this for
three years or if I teach for three years,'' Ms. Kopp, now 33, said when asked why she never
tried the classroom herself. ''I think Teach for America has suffered from the fact that I did
not teach, in a major way. I also think if I had taught, I wouldn't have started Teach for
America.'' The bottom line in summarizing this analysis of social entrepreneurs is that they
recognize a social problem and use their entrepreneurial principles to achieve social change. 3
As John Kenneth Galbraith said, "All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in
common: it was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in
their time. This, and not much else, is the essence of leadership." This is exactly what Wendy
Kopp did.

Essay On Teach For America
I seek to join Teach for America to give back to low income communities I have always had a passion to serve my community, rather if it was by
volunteering at the local Boys and Girls Club, visiting the elderly, or lending a helping hand at Habitat for Humanity. If given the opportunity to join
Teach for America I would be able to not only serve a local community but also teach the future leaders of America. I believe that a qualityeducation
should not be upon the basis of race or family income, but from the quality of the educator that comes in contact with each child. It is as if the quality
of the teacher can somehow have an everlasting effect on the students that he or she comes in contact with. It is an endless cycle of an unmotivated and

growing up in rural Georgia I had no aspirations in furthering my education. I did not dream of being a doctor, teacher or lawyer because I did not

Why Teach Kindergarten Math
Why teach kindergarten math? Before children entering into preschool or kindergarten, they are already using basic math concept in their daily life
without knowing it. During snack time, a child might ask a teacher or parents to give him or her more cookies. Also, for sure, young children all
have many different experiences going out with their parents or grandparents to a store buying things or eat at a restaurant. These events all relate
with math. Math is everywhere in our daily life. As an educator, beside teach and guide kindergarten how to read, how to write, or how to play and
work along with their classmates, we also need to teach them some other long term life skills. Math is one of the long term skills that can lead great

Since Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005, 4,500 public school teachers were fired in the city. The storm is the cause of this city's struggling

Reach And Teach Case Study
The school to prison pipeline is a barrier in education due to lack of communication and sound policies. The school policy should entail strategies to
implement the reach and teach method to minimize some of the on– going distractions in the school environment. School discipline continues to rise in
many counties due to the lack of self–discipline. In order for us to be able to reach and teach students, we as adults must be able to communicate with
each other without looking at the titles. Subsequently, we need to accept ideas and focus on the main goals instead of contending with each other.
Working together to reach and teach is a great effort to move forward.
The Reach and Teach method is design to shape the behaviors to prepare students for the real world. This method allows students to take accountability
and responsibility for their behavior. This intervention strategy will minimize some of the school violations within our schools. It also provides positive

Teach For America Reflection
This semester was very informative as far better understanding some important and major events that took place in the United States in regards to
education. One of the subjects that really got me thinking was when we talked about how privatization is taking over democratic public education. I
truly bothers me to think that we are starting to go into path where all that is valued is scores/standardized test results. I truly believe we teach to help
children to help them not only learn basic skills but also to give them opportunities to be curious and want to explore different topics in different
content areas. This also is essential to help them better understand what they want for their future as far as possible career. But when the focus are test...

While I read "Alligator–Crocodile" and it was such a great story, I could not stop wondering about how many students out there are not getting that

"Standardized tests and benchmark targets are a distraction from the real lessons that children need to rise above adversity and succeed in life"
(page 110). I completely agree with the statement made by the author, children need to gain social skills, it is an essential skill. I also read " Why I
Quit Teach for America", I was truly bothered to realize that an organization that has such a straightforward and positive title could have so many
flaws. "Under the guise of being professional, the diversity sessions taught corps members to stay within their locus of control and not allow external
issues to get in the way of effective teaching" (page 67). An organization that does not take into account the student population, the community and or

Should We Teach The Holocaust
Should we Teach the Holocaust to Eighth Graders?
"Those who do not know history are destined to repeat it." This was said by Edmund Burke. This quote strongly applies to the Holocaust. The
Holocaust is a huge part of our history, and we should teach students about it so they are aware of the past mistakes. The Holocaust can help teach us
how to make the world a better place, it is an important time in history because it can teach kids about societal issues and kids will learn about the
holocaust anyways, so we should teach them about it in a simplistic manner and gradually build up as they get older.
The Holocaust was a bad event from our history that leaves scars all over on humanity due to the results of so much loss. The Holocaust should be
acknowledged so we can learn from our mistakes and analyze what we can do differently to prevent this from happening again. One thing we can
teach kids today is to collect more knowledge by getting opinions of others, and trying to get different perspectives on things before acting on just
your opinion. One great example that we need to take a look at is the people. The people of Germany. Well, was he right? Did they think he was right?
A lot of people did for they let him reign over them and let him move forward with the plans. The people that followed him had a biased opinion about
the topic of the Jews because of Hitler. People can be wrong sometimes. Even if you think they are right about everything, they aren't. But the people

In the book Elementary Music Education by Frances Wright, he lists the characteristics of a good music educator. There he lists how teachers should

is important to meet the needs of children and make them feel accomplished and proud of the music they make and create. The National Standards for

In this particular piece, she experiments with children who have experienced neglect or abuse at home. Here she states that, and I quote, "Music can
evoke emotional responses in active listeners." (Graham, pg.14). She finds that children who compose and listen to music are able to express complex
emotions that they are normally unable to express. It is important that in our classrooms that we allow children to explore all musical ideas. Timbre,
tempo, rhythms and harmonies are all used to help illicit emotion. We should teach our students to listen for these concepts in music, as well as write
with them. Students will walk into your music classroom with many different living situations. We may not be able to fix them, or make the problems
go away, but as educators, we can make sure that students can express themselves in a way that they can let both positive and negative emotions loose.
The connection between physical activity and young children is a "no brainer". Young children are very rambunctious and need to be constantly

found that when students listen to music during casual physical activity, they are more focused and energized. During my readings in this journal, I

Politics Of The Polarized Classroom Essay
Politics of the Polarized Classroom A Popular Trope By now, one must have already heard or read about the story of a young man standing up to his
professor in philosophy class, the latter being a self–professed atheist. Simply put, the professor claimed that it was stupid to believe in God because
there was no empirical proof of God. The young man, however, wittily retorts that since the class really had no empirical proof of the professor's
brain, then they really had no business believing him. The same trope is basically used in a more elaborated rendition in the recent Christian film
God's Not Dead (2014). There, an atheist professor challenges a Christian student for his irrational beliefs, but suddenly comes to terms with the
irrationality of his own belief system by the end of the movie (Noble). An average movie at best, it can be said that richer meaning might be found in
the circumstances of its creation. Movies, after all, mimic aspects of reality regardless of genre, so that the political realities described therein are
hardly fictional in nature. Simply put, "to create a film is to participate politically" (Christensen and Haas 6). Here, it is profitable to point out the three
things both texts have in common: (1) both feature an atheistic professor; (2) both feature a Christian student who avidly believes God; and (3) both
occur in the classroom. These factors are important to note, and the third point needs stressing, as it is central to the plot of both texts.

The Will To Lead: The Skill To Teach
As we are approaching the finishing line for this course, one of the most important things I've learned is that relationships with stakeholders are the
key to success for student learning. As Dr. Anthony Mohamed said in his book "The Will to Lead, The Skill to Teach", a school's leaders
responsibility is to assist in the development of a healthy school culture and a positive learning environment. In order for this to be accomplished, the

Using Crossword to Teach Vocabulary
TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY
TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS BY USING CROSSWORD PUZZLE
RAHAJENG
Abstract
Teaching vocabulary is something challenging, especially if it is done to elementary school students. It is chalenging because elementary school
students usually do not like to learn something in a serious way. They are still children that like to play. A serious way in teaching will just make them
bored. It is why teaching vocabulary to elementary school students requires creativity of the teacher. One of the alternatives that can be used to teach

However, by using crossword puzzle, it is students that must be active in finding the meaning of words by solving or completing the crossword
puzzle. In addition, using traditional way will also take longer time than using crossword puzzle. Students will also get difficulties to recall what they
have learned if they just use the traditional way in learning vocabulary. It will be more effective if students can experience by themselves how they
guess and find the meaning of words by solving or completing a crossword puzzle.
Students Can Learn Content through Crossword Puzzle
The last reason why using crossword puzzle to teach vocabulary to elementary school students is effective is that crossword puzzle can make students
learn content. Richards and Rodgers state that:
Content–Based Instruction refers to an approach to second language teaching in which teaching is organized around the content or information that
students will acquire, rather than around a linguistic or other type of syllabus. (Richards and Rodgers, 2003: 204)
Therefore, content–based instruction emphasizes the information that will be got by students after they learn something. In content–based instruction,
language is learned as means to acquire information. It means that language is learned not only to master or to be able to use it, but also to get other
implicit knowledge found in

(Every Student Succeeds, n.d.) According to Klien (2015), there will be no role for the federal government in teacher evaluation as well as elimination

will be highly speculated in near future and the true outcomes and implications will be unknown for quite some time. However, returning some of the
power back to the states themselves and loosening up some of the one–size–fits–all programs and requirements will allow states and local districts to
design more appropriate policies and programs to help students. It will certainly be important for administrators, district personnel, and state officials to
become well–versed with the changes in policy. ESSA still focuses on the task at hand foreducation, ensuring that all students have an equal
opportunity to learn and excel.

Personal Statement: Why Teach
Why Teach? When I think about the reasons why I want to teach one reason always comes to mind. That look on the child's face when they first
see you each day. They are so happy to be there. They know that I will always be there for them. I offer them a sincere greeting and a caring
environment. We joke, play, and learn together, all while making a unique connection. I love that the students teach me just as much as I will be
teaching them. They teach me to live simple and stop worrying so much. I look forward to the day when I see them outside of school and they call
me by name. I know I will leave an impression on my future students as I already have done so as a para educator. I have come into contact with
former students I had in middle

Elementary Schools Teach Handwriting
Handwriting everyone uses it, however, some don't use it very well. Should Elementary schools teach handwriting? Yes, because many people use it
today, but some peoples writing is unreadable. There are three main reasons why Elementary schools should teach handwriting. One, you use it in
everyday life, secondly you fill out job applications and other legal matters, thirdly people need to be able to read your writing.
Elementary schools should teach handwriting because you use it in everyday life. You have to write papers, take notes, and if some have jobs, write
out checks. Most people though have unreadable handwriting, so maybe learning at a young age will help. The kids and teachers may disagree by
finding it to hard or they are too young,

Teach-Back Method Essay
The educational method that I prefer is the teach–back method, which is one of the most promising and successful, evidence–based methods of patient
education (Tamura–Lis, 2013). This allows the nurse to give important information regarding health topics, and in return the patient reteaches the
education so the nurse can assess areas they need to re–educate on. The end result of the teach–back method includes positive patient outcomes and
increased patient satisfaction (Tamura–Lis, 2013). I would start off by educating Mrs. Smith that she is not alone, "Heart failure is a chronic
debilitating disease that affects 5.1 million Americans, and it requires daily self–management at home without medical supervision (Sterne, Grossman,

Dealing with Mrs. Smith's nursing diagnosis of decreased cardiac output related to cardiac dysfunction, I would educate her on common signs and
symptoms of heart failure exacerbations and appropriate actions she must take if she becomes symptomatic again. Common symptoms of a heart
failure exacerbation may include fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling in legs, ankles, and feet, reduced ability to exercise, persistent cough
/wheezing, three to five pound weight gain overnight, and chest pain. I would explain to Mrs. Smith the importance of daily exercise, because in a
study performed it showed that 91% of women did not exercise for fear that they would hurt themselves or increase their symptoms (Stamp, 2011). It
is important to exercise daily to reduce living a sedentary lifestyle, while also knowing your limitations with your heart failure. Mrs. Smith who lives
by herself and mostly eats TV dinners is at risk for exacerbating her factors related to her high sodium intake. It is important in this step to get a TV
dinner box and a couple canned foods and educate her on the importance of looking at the sodium content in each meal that she

What To Teach Summary And Analysis
1.What are some critical factors in your decisions about what to teach? In my opinion the critical factors in determining my decisions about what to
teach include the standards, and curriculum; but most importantly my students. My students are the ones who I am teaching so they are most
significant. Their cultures backgrounds, prior math classes, and etc. determine my decisions on what is the most effective approach for them to
understand the material. It is vital to know what your students know and what you intended to teach them in order to effectively plan a lesson.
Therefore this goes along with my belief that if you do not know the students then you cannot effectively teach them. 2.How will you keep students
focused during your lessons?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Majority of students come in with pre–conceived notions that math is boring or that they are incapable of doing it. Therefore I plan on changing the
students' mindset by planning interactive activities and lessons. I am not sure what exactly that will look like on a day–to–day basis right now.
However I see that as having activities that get them up and moving or having an active role in the learning process. I think that my movement about
the classroom will allow for me to monitor students staying on task. I have already been practicing the "look" (or eye) and my proximity to students
in the classroom. I also think that breaking up lessons that may seem repetitive or mundane will also allow students to be engaged. This may look like
them standing up and working problems out, having students come to the board or stations around the room. I am excited to use the many methods we
have learned in order to keep students engaged and focused during my

How To Teach Literacy
When it comes to teaching literacy, there can be some confusion because there are several things this one little word encompasses. Literacy has long
been known as the ability to read and write but it has recently expanded to include things like computer literacy and competence of other things as well.
For most, the process of becoming literate begins in early childhood. It starts by parents and siblings and sometimes even babysitters, nannies or
teachers who speak to and around an individual, introducing them to the language of their people. Sometimes this "talking to" takes place in the form of
reading aloud, which is a great way to instill a love of reading, but still does not teach the child how to read.
In teaching literacy, there

Teaching Phonics And Teach Phonics
One of the tasks required by teachers is to teach children to read and write, with this comes different approaches that teachers need to be aware of.
Phonics is one of the approaches adopted by teachers when teaching children to read and write. Teachers adopt different methods to teaching phonics
its what makes them effective teachers and adaptive. This essay aims to look closer at phonics and some of the different approaches used to teach
phonics in the classroom. Phonic approaches that will be discussed in this paper include synthetic phonics, Analytic phonics, Linguist phonics and
Word building.
Phonics is a method that teaches reading and writing, it aims to enhance investigation into sound–letter relationships and the understanding of the
alphabet (Hill, S., 2012, p. 241). Phonics is used to assist with the decoding of words. However, it should be also used in conjunction with other
approaches to allow readers to comprehend what they are reading not just decode the words. Phonics is valuable, but not the whole part of learning to
read and write. Understanding what readers are reading is a very important role and should not be overlooked. Gough, Hoover and Peterson conclude
(citied in Damianou, 2016, p. 128) that a 'child who cannot decode cannot read; a child who cannot comprehend cannot read either". Research has
found that there are six elements that benefit children who are starting school that must firstly be fully understood, included are "the alphabetic code

The Importance Of Non-Profit Management
I've always been passionate about non–profit organizations. I've volunteered my valuable time with organizations committed to rebuilding various
communities such as single months, at risk youth, and homeless. Almost 3 years ago I made the decision to pursue an undergraduate degree in
interdisciplinary studies and complete the certification for non–profit management in hopes of one day managing a non–profit and gaining the
experience necessary to establishing a foundation that will fund multiple non–profits in the future.
When I initially registered for PAD4148 volunteer management I was pretty clear on the notion that in this course I'd be learning and gaining
knowledge on how to manage volunteers. I did not realize that in order to effectively and efficiently manage volunteer and staff in a non–profit
organization, or any organization for that matter, there are many layers involved. My basic understanding of non–profit management was the necessity
for organization, humility as a leader and showing appreciation for you team. The only reason I even discovered these needed elements in non–profit
management is because I served with a non–profit organization for years that lacked them. I felt so burned out mentally, emotionally, and even
spiritually because I was working so hard towards the mission and vision that I whole–heartedly believed in but the lack of organization, appreciated
and large doses of pride made this goal seem impossible.

Teach Chapter Summaries
Teach is a failure person in the play. Money has determined his personal relationships. He could not be a real friend or a real businessman. At first,
Teach associates with Don as a real friend, but if there exists any kind of relationship that is based upon profit. They do not have any feeling for each
other. They end their conversation by saying 'see you later'. They can say 'good–bye' to each other and show their sympathy for each other. Teach talks
about friendship as if it is an slogan that no more exists. He suggests separating friendship from business. Business makes Teach conceive both the
robbery and friendship as business deals. Bob has tried to maintain the good relationship with Don. When he saw that it is urgent for Don to get back
the coin, he tells lie to him. He wanted to sell a buffalo–nickel to him. Actually, he wanted to help Don by giving the coin. Bob acquires his own
buffalo nickel so that he can barter with Don for his friendship. Ruthie also has tried to be a good friend. When Don calls her to ask about Fletch, she
gives the exact information. She helps Bob and saves him from Teach. She ensures that Bob is not a liar. Though she is angry with Teach and Fletch,
but she is helpful to Bob. Bob and Ruthie do not judge their relationship according to money.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Statement Of Purpose To Teach For America
Teach For America has a huge impact on low–income communities' education. This is one very important reason that I would love to become a part of
this organization. I want to be a part of a group that creates a lasting impact on children's education by giving them the resources necessary to succeed.
With the proper education, I believe that students can reach their highest potential. When students are reaching their fullest potential, gaps in education
can begin to close and we can begin to have equal education for all children. This is something I want to help accomplish with Teach For America.
Another reason I am seeking to join Teach For America is because, it will give me the opportunity to better train and prepare myself, as an educator,

Teach Vocabulary Analysis
Vocabulary plays a crucial part in a child learning to read. A student that has limited vocabulary often prevents them from comprehending the text that
he or she reads. Students that do not read well often times read less because they find that reading is tough and frustrating. Since these low level
readers do not read enough their vocabulary does not improve. Unfortunately, as the student continues through school the gap between good readers and
poor readers widens tremendously.
Teaching vocabulary to students is vital to the growth of student's comprehension level. I found by teaching vocabulary to my students they tend to
use the words frequently once they had a concrete understanding of the word. I also found that if my students could not relate to the word that was
being introduced many times it was harder for them to learn the word. Therefore, it was imperative for me to always provide a description,
explanation and example to all vocabulary words that was introduced. In the video How to Teach Vocabulary Acquisition ( ), many of the strategies
that were introduced to the viewer such as asking students to restate in their own words, having students create a picture or symbol for the vocabulary
word and allowing students to discuss new words with their peers is something that I already do in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Teach Live Experience
Going into the Teach Live session I was very excited and could not wait to experience what it would be like to teach a real lesson. At first when hearing
about the assignment I thought to myself this was going to be hard for me to do. This is so because I am a very shy and closed off person, my voice
gets shaky when I have to speak in front of a group, and I have never done anything such as a Teach Life lesson before. The day of the Teach Live I
was jittery and elated that whole day, I just knew I was going to kill it. I arrived 15 minutes early and Mr. C made sure I felt very comfortable and
was ready. While sitting there preparing to teach the lesson I had chosen, fear and nervousness swept over me and I began to worry. A few minutes
before I began the Teach Live session all the fear and negativity left mymind and body. Then when the session began and I saw the virtual students a
smile grew on my face, sending a cooling, calm sensation through my body.
I found this experience very helpful. It gave me that final confirmation that I need in deciding if teaching students was how I wanted to spend the rest
of my life. Teaching a lesson, learning, and gaining experience before entering an actual classroom, I feel is what every education major should
experience. I loved the Teach Live session, it is a great way to rid all of the nervousness, help you learn from your mistakes, and better prepare you for

Analysis: Teach For Ideas
Lesson 1:
1. What were the strengths of your lessons? Explain why. The first lesson was the Focus In Lesson, titled "Understanding Archeology in the World and
in Indiana. The students looked at different excerpts that helped them answer the true and false questions that they predicted in the beginning of the
lesson. I would say that a strength of this lesson was setting strong expectations from the start. This allowed the students to see what we expected of
them. I also thought that a strength of this lesson was them predicting the true and false questions at the beginning and then answering them again after
reading about Native Americans. This helped them to see what they learned throughout the lesson what they didn't know beforehand. ... Show more

The students went around to stations to learn about either people in Indiana today or people in Indiana from the past, based on the stations. Even
though there was information set out about people in Indiana today, many of the students wrote down things that they already knew about people in
Indiana in their packet, as well as things that they learned from the stations. This is how we linked students prior knowledge to what they were learning
today. This also related to their cultural and community knowledge because they had to discuss people of Indiana, which is essentially what makes up
their culture and community. I was surprised that so many of the students used information that they already knew for the stations, but this helped me
to see that students actually knew a lot more about people in Indiana today than I

Teach for America has an organizational culture of Teamwork. Kopp (2011) writes about teachers committed to making a difference. She tells stories of

In her book, Kopp (2011) rights that "one of the most dramatic changes in our organization was in our organizational culture." (p. 143) She describes
the upward spiral of Teach for America and the goal setting process she implemented with all senior level managers. She attributes these goals and the

How to Teach during a Tragegy
There was nothing about leaving the school where I taught in New Orleans on Friday afternoon, August 27, 2005, that led me to believe I wouldn't
see most of my colleagues and students ever again. "Bye, see you Monday!" I called out to them. On the drive home, I heard weather reports about a
hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico and thought to myself, "It probably won't affect New Orleans." By Saturday, forecasters said the possibility of the
storm making landfall near New Orleans had increased, but I still wasn't alarmed; my family and I were more concerned about attending a Saints
preseason football game in the Superdome along with thousands of other New Orleanians that night. The predictions for the hurricane hitting New
Orleans became more ominous on Sunday, causing the mayor of our city to order a mandatory evacuation for all residents. My family reluctantly
evacuated the city as we had done so many times before for other hurricanes, none of which had been devastating. Much like when I left school on
Friday, there was nothing about leaving New Orleans that Sunday that led me to think I would never see my home again.
It became clear by Monday that New Orleans would suffer a near–direct hit by a hugely intensified Hurricane Katrina. Although our city largely
withstood the fierce winds and rains brought by the Category 5 storm, it ultimately fell to the flooding that resulted when an aging levee system
breached, resulting in 80% of the city being underwater, up to 20

Reinforcement Principles To Teach Respect
By learning the different principles in how to teach respect, it allows direct application into social work practice. The positive reinforcement principle,
intermittent reinforcement principle, and modeling principle focus on using a client's strengths and positive attributes to learn the influence that
respect has the general population. It also allows greater ability to establish rapport between the social worker and the client, since each principle uses
encouragement and empowerment to help the client learn an important value in life. Instead of applying each principle to learning respect, it can also be
applied in retrospect to self–love, learning to love others, and believing in one's self. For example, under the positive reinforcement

Future Teach Summary And Analysis

  • 1. Future Teach Summary And Analysis One of the tips I plan to use for myself as a future teach is "To create a safe environment, show that you are human"(Koch, 2013, p 173). This is a very important tip for me to use because as a teacher we always want to make sure that our students feel safe and that as their teacher we want to keep them safe. The second tip I could use is "Who are the student? What types of homes, apartments, or other forms of housing arrangements do they live in" (Koch,2013, p 173). This is another important tip to up hold as a future teacher because it is important to have a relationship with your students, but to also learn a little bit about them everyday. The third tip I could use as a future teacher is " Offer Choices and be flexible" (Connell, 2013). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Passion To Teach For America While my dedication to teaching at some capacity has been a lifelong passion, I would like to explain why I want to join Teach for America by starting at the beginning of my own academic journey: I could not read a sentence until I was in third grade, two to three full years behind my average peer. In addition to being hopelessly behind in both reading and mathematics, I had terrible experiences with bullying. The combination of poor academic performance and social issues was deadly to my ability to learn. It took a year and two teachers who were incredibly dedicated to my individual progress to catch me up to my peers. And that was all I needed––two teachers who noticed and cared––to begin my work towards an eventual Ivy League education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Teach For America Essay People are divided when it comes to discussing the issue of poverty worldwide especially in the United States. Poverty within the U.S is getting worst because people are divided between the meaning of providing assistance to the poor and the welfare program. Many people want to assistance the poor but not enough is getting done about it. People living in poverty is blamed for their poverty. They are seen as lazy and not hard working enough. The system is design to blame the welfare program for people living in poverty, and as well as the individual in poverty. The new century and millennium we live in very individualistic where it all about better oneself through hard work, and self–reliance. Poverty is when someone is in the state of ... Since Tabitha Hicks is Alva Mae daughter, it easy to assume that the same fate awaits her because of the way the economy is set up. People tend to have the same socioeconomic status as their parents. It's pass down from generation to generation because people only have encounter with people who have the same socioeconomic status as well. The only person that had major influence on Tabitha Hicks is rookie corps member of Teach for America (TFA) who was assigned to her classroom name Mark Patten. Tabitha Hicks interaction with Mr. Patten change her perspective and provided her with better opportunity, and the ability to make wise decisions. Mr. Patten first change Tabitha impression of white people when he visits her home and did not judge her. Not only did he not judge her, he also helps her new glasses. He pays attention to how she was doing, and it was genuine (146). She explains that she never had anyone treat her that way before, and she trusted him. This shows how the educational system is lacking because no one else notice until the new teacher Mr. Patten was assigned to her classroom. It shows the lack of concern the school have for the students. One Example that shows that the educations system is lacking is when Tabitha gym teacher message her on Facebook ... • 4. Why Do Not Teach? Why not teach? Individuals in the field may try to steer the future teachers away from the occupation. Many need to start thinking, is the occupation of teacher really worth it? Is it worth the long hours, stressing over all the standardize testing and common core practice, trying not to be mean but trying to stay away from being walked all over? In my opinion, I do not believe it is worth it. Going to college for four years, you learn all you need to know to become a teacher but in the end, we might not be fully prepared as we should be with the baggage being a teacher comes with. Although each work day has its set hours, teachers spend way more than the standard eight hours, working on school work. Being a teacher can at times keep you in the building well before or after the final bell rings working on grading papers and a long list of other things. During a typical work day, teacher's schedules are jammed packed with grading, teaching and lesson planning. When becoming a teacher, the work follows you home no matter how far ahead you get on grading or lesson planning. "Teachers spend an average of 50 hours per week on instructional duties, including an average of 12 hours each week on non–compensated school–related activities such as grading papers, bus duty, and club advising." (Association, 2002) Thinking about how the work will always follow you home and long work days than some might imagine, is it really worth it? Working an average of 50 hours a week and getting ... You can create a cow jumping over the moon and when the lights go out, everyone will be reminded of this nursery rhyme. There are theories that say, knowledge of grammar is superfluous for a successful communication because children are able to communicate without having any knowledge of grammar. Based on this theory, grammatical knowledge is not required. However, if we as teachers do not emphasize grammar knowledge as part of the English language dominates the whole process of learning, then it makes a difficult learning process. Comparative understanding of grammar has led to different levels and interest in teaching English. Learning and teaching grammar includes not only a way to manipulate the presentation simple language, but also learn that there are rules in the context of grammar. • 7. Social Entrepreneurship SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP When I was a kid, I could have been what people would now call a social entrepreneur or socialpreneur. A lot of people would have fallen into this category. To help your school or church or youth group, you may have sold chocolate bars door–to–door. People bought them, even if they didn't like chocolate; because they knew the money would go to support a worthy cause. Both the seller and purchaser are examples of social consciousness in action. Quoted by Ms. Kopp herself, she said ''I look at where am I going to have the most impact –– if I do this for three years or if I teach for three years,'' Ms. Kopp, now 33, said when asked why she never tried the classroom herself. ''I think Teach for America has suffered from the fact that I did not teach, in a major way. I also think if I had taught, I wouldn't have started Teach for America.'' The bottom line in summarizing this analysis of social entrepreneurs is that they recognize a social problem and use their entrepreneurial principles to achieve social change. 3 As John Kenneth Galbraith said, "All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common: it was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their time. This, and not much else, is the essence of leadership." This is exactly what Wendy Kopp did. Contributers: Social entrepreneurship. (2011, February 11). In Wikipedia,The Free Encyclopedia. If given the opportunity to join Teach for America I would be able to not only serve a local community but also teach the future leaders of America. Before children entering into preschool or kindergarten, they are already using basic math concept in their daily life without knowing it. Also, for sure, young children all have many different experiences going out with their parents or grandparents to a store buying things or eat at a restaurant. These events all relate with math. Math is everywhere in our daily life. • 15. Reach And Teach Case Study The school to prison pipeline is a barrier in education due to lack of communication and sound policies. The school policy should entail strategies to implement the reach and teach method to minimize some of the on– going distractions in the school environment. School discipline continues to rise in many counties due to the lack of self–discipline. In order for us to be able to reach and teach students, we as adults must be able to communicate with each other without looking at the titles. Subsequently, we need to accept ideas and focus on the main goals instead of contending with each other. Working together to reach and teach is a great effort to move forward. The Reach and Teach method is design to shape the behaviors to prepare students for the real world. This method allows students to take accountability and responsibility for their behavior. One of the subjects that really got me thinking was when we talked about how privatization is taking over democratic public education. I truly bothers me to think that we are starting to go into path where all that is valued is scores/standardized test results. I truly believe we teach to help children to help them not only learn basic skills but also to give them opportunities to be curious and want to explore different topics in different content areas. This also is essential to help them better understand what they want for their future as far as possible career. But when the focus are test... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I completely agree with the statement made by the author, children need to gain social skills, it is an essential skill. I also read " Why I Quit Teach for America", I was truly bothered to realize that an organization that has such a straightforward and positive title could have so many flaws. "Under the guise of being professional, the diversity sessions taught corps members to stay within their locus of control and not allow external issues to get in the way of effective teaching" (page 67). • 17. Should We Teach The Holocaust Should we Teach the Holocaust to Eighth Graders? "Those who do not know history are destined to repeat it." This was said by Edmund Burke. This quote strongly applies to the Holocaust. The Holocaust is a huge part of our history, and we should teach students about it so they are aware of the past mistakes. The Holocaust can help teach us how to make the world a better place, it is an important time in history because it can teach kids about societal issues and kids will learn about the holocaust anyways, so we should teach them about it in a simplistic manner and gradually build up as they get older. The Holocaust was a bad event from our history that leaves scars all over on humanity due to the results of so much loss. The Holocaust should be acknowledged so we can learn from our mistakes and analyze what we can do differently to prevent this from happening again. One thing we can teach kids today is to collect more knowledge by getting opinions of others, and trying to get different perspectives on things before acting on just your opinion. One great example that we need to take a look at is the people. The people of Germany. Well, was he right? Did they think he was right? A lot of people did for they let him reign over them and let him move forward with the plans. The people that followed him had a biased opinion about the topic of the Jews because of Hitler. In the book Elementary Music Education by Frances Wright, he lists the characteristics of a good music educator. There he lists how teachers should respect their students and their needs. Most of the list is comprised on how teachers should put the needs of their students first, and make them feel like they have a sense of accomplishment. I could not agree more with this philosophy. She finds that children who compose and listen to music are able to express complex emotions that they are normally unable to express. It is important that in our classrooms that we allow children to explore all musical ideas. Timbre, tempo, rhythms and harmonies are all used to help illicit emotion. We should teach our students to listen for these concepts in music, as well as write with them. Students will walk into your music classroom with many different living situations. We may not be able to fix them, or make the problems go away, but as educators, we can make sure that students can express themselves in a way that they can let both positive and negative emotions loose. The connection between physical activity and young children is a "no brainer". Young children are very rambunctious and need to be constantly moving in order for them to pay attention. • 20. Politics Of The Polarized Classroom Essay Politics of the Polarized Classroom A Popular Trope By now, one must have already heard or read about the story of a young man standing up to his professor in philosophy class, the latter being a self–professed atheist. Simply put, the professor claimed that it was stupid to believe in God because there was no empirical proof of God. The young man, however, wittily retorts that since the class really had no empirical proof of the professor's brain, then they really had no business believing him. The same trope is basically used in a more elaborated rendition in the recent Christian film God's Not Dead (2014). There, an atheist professor challenges a Christian student for his irrational beliefs, but suddenly comes to terms with the irrationality of his own belief system by the end of the movie (Noble). An average movie at best, it can be said that richer meaning might be found in the circumstances of its creation. Movies, after all, mimic aspects of reality regardless of genre, so that the political realities described therein are hardly fictional in nature. Simply put, "to create a film is to participate politically" (Christensen and Haas 6). Here, it is profitable to point out the three things both texts have in common: (1) both feature an atheistic professor; (2) both feature a Christian student who avidly believes God; and (3) both occur in the classroom. These factors are important to note, and the third point needs stressing, as it is central to the plot of both texts. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Will To Lead: The Skill To Teach As we are approaching the finishing line for this course, one of the most important things I've learned is that relationships with stakeholders are the key to success for student learning. As Dr. Anthony Mohamed said in his book "The Will to Lead, The Skill to Teach", a school's leaders responsibility is to assist in the development of a healthy school culture and a positive learning environment. In order for this to be accomplished, the school staff must believe in and make it a priority for ALL students' to achieve high standards. For this reflective essay, I would be a new principal at a new school, so the teachers may or may not have all worked together before and there would not be an established culture & climate, with the exception of uncertainty and or excitement. This would provide the staff and the community the opportunity to develop, build, and the culture and climate together. I would start with meeting with the teachers & staff individually, I would also provide a survey to see what they believe are the needs for developing our new school with high expectations for all students. After meeting individually, I would hold our first staff meeting (I would provide food, drinks, little incentives– пЃЉ) and I would share the survey data as well as data on student achievements from all the schools in the district. Using Crossword to Teach Vocabulary TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS BY USING CROSSWORD PUZZLE RAHAJENG Abstract Teaching vocabulary is something challenging, especially if it is done to elementary school students. A serious way in teaching will just make them bored. It is why teaching vocabulary to elementary school students requires creativity of the teacher. In addition, using traditional way will also take longer time than using crossword puzzle. Students will also get difficulties to recall what they have learned if they just use the traditional way in learning vocabulary. It will be more effective if students can experience by themselves how they guess and find the meaning of words by solving or completing a crossword puzzle. Students Can Learn Content through Crossword Puzzle The last reason why using crossword puzzle to teach vocabulary to elementary school students is effective is that crossword puzzle can make students learn content. Richards and Rodgers state that: Content–Based Instruction refers to an approach to second language teaching in which teaching is organized around the content or information that students will acquire, rather than around a linguistic or other type of syllabus. (Richards and Rodgers, 2003: 204) Therefore, content–based instruction emphasizes the information that will be got by students after they learn something. In content–based instruction, language is learned as means to acquire information. It means that language is learned not only to master or to be able to use it, but also to get other implicit knowledge found in

In my opinion the critical factors in determining my decisions about what to teach include the standards, and curriculum; but most importantly my students. My students are the ones who I am teaching so they are most significant. Their cultures backgrounds, prior math classes, and etc. determine my decisions on what is the most effective approach for them to understand the material. It is vital to know what your students know and what you intended to teach them in order to effectively plan a lesson. It starts by parents and siblings and sometimes even babysitters, nannies or teachers who speak to and around an individual, introducing them to the language of their people.
