The FIBRE project aims to create a shared experimental space between the EU and Brazil for Future Internet research by building and operating federated testbeds. Over 30 months, the project will build new Future Internet experimental testbeds in Brazil and federate them with existing EU testbeds. This will allow experiments spanning both regions to test technologies like seamless mobility and high-definition content delivery across the federated infrastructure.

Neural source-filter waveform model

Space time coding in mimo
Space time coding is used in MIMO wireless systems to improve communication performance by exploiting spatial diversity. It uses multiple transmit and receive antennas. The Alamouti code is a simple and effective space time block code that achieves full transmit diversity without requiring channel state information at the transmitter. It transmits symbols from two transmit antennas in two time slots so that the receiver can recover the symbols with low complexity decoding. MIMO combined with space time coding can provide high data rates, minimize errors, and increase capacity for wireless applications such as 4G networks.

Energy Efficient GPS Acquisition with Sparse-GPS
Following rising demands in positioning with GPS, low-cost receivers are becoming widely available; but their energy demands are still too high. For energy efficient GPS sensing in delay-tolerant applications, the possibility of offloading a few milliseconds of raw signal samples and leveraging the greater processing power of the cloud for obtaining a position fix is being actively investigated.
In an attempt to reduce the energy cost of this data offloading operation, we propose Sparse-GPS: a new computing framework for GPS acquisition via sparse approximation.
Within the framework, GPS signals can be efficiently compressed by random ensembles. The sparse acquisition information, pertaining to the visible satellites that are embedded within these limited measurements, can subsequently be recovered by our proposed representation dictionary.
By extensive empirical evaluations, we demonstrate the acquisition quality and energy gains of Sparse-GPS. We show that it is twice as energy efficient than offloading uncompressed data, and has 5-10 times lower energy costs than standalone GPS; with a median positioning accuracy of 40 m.

This project aims to advance the RINA architecture towards production deployments through four main objectives: 1) Enhancing RINA specifications focusing on DIFs over Ethernet based on requirements from use cases, 2) Developing an open source RINA prototype for a UNIX-like OS, 3) Experimentally validating RINA and comparing it to TCP/IP using the prototype in a testbed, and 4) Providing feedback to the OFELIA testbed from prototyping a clean-slate architecture. The project will involve specification development, prototype implementation, experimental validation in iterative phases to refine RINA.

This document describes a test architecture that separates parallel program communication from computation kernels to enable future partial dynamic reconfiguration of processing elements (PEs) on FPGAs. The architecture implements static softcore processors as test PEs on a Xilinx Virtex 5 FPGA.
