Fungi are a group of organisms that lack chlorophyll and vascular tissues. They can grow as parasites on plants and animals, causing diseases, or as saprophytes that break down dead organic matter. Fungi exhibit heterotrophic nutrition and can be either obligate or facultative parasites or saprophytes. They reproduce both asexually through spores or sexually through various modes of reproduction depending on the type of fungi.
