The UNCP Day of Service is an annual event where UNCP students volunteer through the Community and Civic Engagement program to help various parts of the Pembroke and Lumberton communities. This year saw a large turnout from UNCP's Greek organizations, who volunteered despite the cold and rainy weather that prevented regular students from participating. The volunteers planted flowers behind an apartment complex and packed donated food to be stored on campus. They also entertained elders at retirement homes and served food to the poor and homeless at local churches. The UNCP Day of Service allows students to give back to the community as part of the college experience.

Eighty-four students at Southern Maine Community College were recognized at a reception for their contributions to student organizations, clubs, activities, and campus leadership. The reception honored students involved with student government, honor societies, and groups that help build the campus community. Two new awards, Program of the Year and Student Organization of the Year, were given to the Veteran's Club and Gaming Club respectively for their impact on campus. The Veteran's Club held impactful events for Veteran's Week that paid tribute to those lost in service. The Gaming Club has grown rapidly and provides a supportive community for students through gaming.
District 205 High School - 2010 Jefferson Awards Students In Action Presentation
Students In Action is a national youth volunteer leadership, recognition and reward program, designed to pass the tradition of service on to the next generation.
Co-developed by Jefferson Awards for Public Service and Deloitte, it is now in over 250 High Schools.
Each spring, Student Leaders from the participating schools compete in regional competitions. They are asked to report on the implementation of the program, and the impact they've had, both in their schools and within their communities.
ANNUAL REPORT
The Kinesiology Club at Penn State had a very successful and active 2012-2013 year under President Chris Gettle. Membership grew to nearly 400 students. Activities included career fairs, THON fundraising that exceeded $36,000, launching an Exercise is Medicine initiative on campus with over 2,500 participants, intramural sports, and CPR certification training for over 40 students. The annual report highlighted the club's growth over 15 years and numerous leadership and volunteer opportunities provided to Kinesiology undergraduates.

Tim Jones, an alumnus and donor of the University of Birmingham, will visit campus. The full-day agenda includes meeting representatives from sports, music, geology, and cancer research to discuss developments and see new facilities. By touring areas Tim Jones previously studied and those his donations supported, and acknowledging his contributions, the visit aims to strengthen his connection to the university and lay the groundwork for future fundraising. Follow up will include thanking Tim Jones and inviting him to events to maintain the relationship.

The Sumter School District Teacher Forum organized a successful service project collecting school supplies and teddy bears for children affected by Hurricane Sandy. One hundred percent of the district's schools and offices participated, collecting 42 boxes of donations. The items were delivered to Brooklyn and Staten Island to help children whose lives were disrupted by the hurricane. The Teacher Forum aims to recognize teachers of the year, develop leadership, and facilitate professional development.

Border towns and spaces of (in)visibility.pdf
This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.
