Fuji Mountain is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776 meters with a perfectly symmetrical volcanic cone shape. It last erupted in 1707 and is now dormant after creating Lake Biwa through an earthquake. Fuji Mountain is sacred to Japanese Buddhists and is a popular tourist attraction, with areas like the Fuji Five Lakes at its northern base and the nearby hot spring resort of Hakone providing scenic views of the mountain.
