Lift14 Workshop Liquid Democracy as a Service (LDaaS) : Rebooting Democracy
Liquid Democracy is increasingly emerging as an opportunity and alternative to the increasing problems facing our participative environments. Also known as delegative democracy, the advantages of such approaches lies in the ability to instrument through ICT dynamic management and delegation mechanisms instead of traditional static representative models. The goal of this workshop is to launch a challenge to be initiated within the Lift14 conference time and followed up afterwards on an "as a Service" model. Ultimately, the plan is to launch a new service : Liquid Democracy as a Service (LDaaS) for everyone.
Liquid Democracy (Inception)

By doing this, one can experience the full life that God intended both now and forever.

The first teaching in the series "Growing Deep in the Gospel". In this teaching we answer the question "Why is the Gospel Important?" by looking at Romans 1:16, several other Bible verses and quotes from pastors and Christian authors. Then in light of the importance of the gospel we look at what we should do with the gospel.

This story is about a man named Nathanael who doubted that anything good could come from Nazareth, where Jesus was from. When his friend Philip told him he had met Jesus from Nazareth, Nathanael laughed and said nothing good could come from there. However, when Nathanael met Jesus, he realized his mistake in judging Jesus based on where he was from rather than getting to know him. The story teaches that people should not prejudge others based on characteristics like where they are from or what they look like, but rather take the time to get to know them as individuals.
Epiphany: Week 1
This document announces a series of sermons at St. J & B church in January 2014 about biblical and personal stories of encounters with God. Architecting Information For An Open Source Citizenry
Metaphorically, software and law have fundamental things in common. They’re both specialized, obtuse, and generally inaccessible to the layperson. Both govern our daily lives. And whereas software is compiled or interpreted and executed on specialized digital machines, law is interpreted and executed by specially trained human nervous systems.
Open source software relies on community support of two kinds: contribution and collaboration. The same concept lies at the heart of the Open Government Initiative, which focuses on transparency, participation and accessibility. Despite ongoing progress toward transparency, however, significant opportunities remain for improving how government collaborates with citizens to make the process of crafting legislation more accessible. In this talk, we propose that the problems we see with the current state of collaborative government participation is a problem of UX; and information architecture can provide a bipartisan pathway to solving these problems.
We will cover how GitHub’s success stems from its user experience and understanding of its core users: developers. Jumping off from this, we will discuss the concept of open government; covering some its important milestones; and demonstrate how some of the less successful ventures contained critical user experience shortfalls. Finally, we will present research findings and a conceptual IA that is particular to the crafting of laws and legislation. This talk will be a call to action as well: get ready to get involved!

Truth, Justice, and Technicity: from Bias to the Politics of Systems
The document discusses expanding the critique of algorithmic decision-making beyond a focus on individual algorithms and their outcomes. It suggests considering (1) how different understandings of justice and values are embedded in technical systems and (2) examining algorithms as part of larger technical and institutional systems. This leads to proposing three directions for digital methods projects: (1) descriptive analysis of algorithmic systems, (2) experimenting with analysis techniques on real-world cases, and (3) exploring how different values could be incorporated into technical system design through alternatives. The document argues this can provide a richer critique of how power and politics are shaped by algorithmic systems.
Governance of artificial intelligence
The rapid developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the intensification in the adoption of AI in domains such as autonomous vehicles, lethal weapon systems, robotics and alike pose serious challenges to governments as they must manage the scale and speed of socio-technical transitions occurring. While there is considerable literature emerging on various aspects of AI, governance of AI is a significantly underdeveloped area. The new applications of AI offer opportunities for increasing economic efficiency and quality of life, but they also generate unexpected and unintended consequences and pose new forms of risks that need to be addressed. To enhance the benefits from AI while minimising the adverse risks, governments worldwide need to understand better the scope and depth of the risks posed and develop regulatory and governance processes and structures to address these challenges. This introductory article unpacks AI and describes why the Governance of AI should be gaining far more attention given the myriad of challenges it presents. It then summarises the special issue articles and highlights their key contributions. This special issue introduces the multifaceted challenges of governance of AI, including emerging governance approaches to AI, policy capacity building, exploring legal and regulatory challenges of AI and Robotics, and outstanding issues and gaps that need attention. The special issue showcases the state-of-the-art in the governance of AI, aiming to enable researchers and practitioners to appreciate the challenges and complexities of AI governance and highlight future avenues for exploration.

In this report I examine the possibilities t offered by new technologies, such as the Internet, informatics devices and telecommunications, to improve legitimacy. I will be focusing specially in local institutions, like the city council of Illescas. Due this space allows implementing these tools faster with less cost and risk. From this point, I distinguish four fields in which new technologies may be used in order to reach a remarkable political participation: 1) elections, 2) referendums, 3) transparency, and 4) legislative initiative. However, before assessing the possibilities of new technologies in the field of local democracy; I determine the requirements to succeed in our idea.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible.
