I opted for “This Land is My Land” topic due to my insightful interest to explore historical events related to patriotism and balancing power between Europeans and Natives in situations such as trade negotiations. The trade aspect drove me to be specific on the focus question that need to address the impacts of Pequot War to Europeans and Natives. In this case, the contact of both had profound effect where balance of power shifted overnight from natives to Europeans. My choice is therefore grounded on the enthusiasm to discover more knowledge into this particular aspect.

Geographic Theme of Movement as an Example
For example, a strategic plan to achieve the aforementioned mission statement would be: “The people in Tripoli face both a shortage of fresh water and food.” How would you get these resources to them? By exploring the theme of movement, you see how aspects of transportation may be the key to satisfying the delivery of water. You might want to increase the roads to this area, thereby enabling you to get irrigation equipment and water to this town. Perhaps the topic of agriculture from the text would lead you to explore the idea of creating irrigation for the crops of the area.
Think within the theme of movement. You may observe that by marking road signs in Arabic, one uses language and relative place to mark the roads in a manner consistent with the needs and cultural nuances of this particular area. You will also want to develop the idea of where the trucks will come from to deliver the water. Will the trucks need to come from Europe, thereby necessitating sealift (theme of movement), or can they be created in an urban area nearby (topic of industry and urban geography)?
Conclusion/Summary Paragraph
The logical application of a location’s needs into a concise mission statement and a well-researched and imaginatively explained plan will both demonstrate spatial awareness and the application of Christian principles. Success in this project could constitute one small step in the Great Commission that Christians have been charged with fulfilling.

Following your Module/Week 4 and Module/Week 5 submissions and instructor feedback, you will identify a location as an area for a potential service project and prepare a mission statement as well as develop a strategy to accomplish this mission using the 5 main themes of geography as guides.
The mission statement will be a concise sentence identifying the location and the desired result of services to be performed. For example: “The goal of this project is to help the people of Tripoli, Libya by delivering fresh water for drinking and irrigation.” The subsequent plan to achieve this mission statement will be based on the 5 main themes/topics of geography and will be at least 3–4 pages (not including a title page and/or reference pages towards the minimum page length).

This service project may be characterized by, but not limited to, business, Christian service, or a military action for the purpose of helping a particular group of people. The service topic you choose may already exist, but the description of the problems and their characterizations in terms of the geographic themes and topics must be your own.
Geographic Theme of Movement as an Example
For example, a strategic plan to achieve the aforementioned mission statement would be: “The people in Tripoli face both a shortage of fresh water and food.” How would you get these resources to them? By exploring the theme of movement, you see how aspects of transportation may be the key to satisfying the delivery of water. You might want to increase the roads to this area, thereby enabling you to get irrigation equipment and water to this town. Perhaps the topic of agriculture from the text would lead you to explore the idea of creating irrigation for the crops of the area.
Think within the theme of movement. You may observe that by marking road signs in Arabic, one uses language and relative place to mark the roads in a manner consistent with the needs and cultural nuances of this particular area. You will also want to develop the idea of where the trucks will come from to deliver the water. Will the trucks need to come from Europe, thereby necessitating sealift (theme of movement), or can they be created in an urban area nearby (topic of industry and urban geography)?
Conclusion/Summary Paragraph
The logical application of a location’s needs into a concise mission statement and a well-researched and imaginatively explained plan will both demonstrate spatial awareness and the application of Christian principles. Success in this project could constitute one small step in the Great Commission that Christians have been charged with fulfilling.

They are found throughout the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. In the Pacific, their range extends as far north as Alaska and south beyond the southernmost tip of New Zealand.
In the Atlantic, they can be found as far north as Norway and the Arctic Circle and south to the tip of Africa. They are mainly pelagic (open ocean) wanderers but migrate to tropical and subtropical coastal regions to mate and nest.(

In 1982, scientists estimated that there were 115,000 adult female leatherback sea turtles worldwide. Recent estimates have placed the number between 20,000 and 30,000 (Singh,2007).
Trends in Population:
The global population for this species was estimated to be 115,000 adult females in 1982. By 1996 this had been revised down to about 30-40,000. Leatherback populations in the Pacific and Indian Oceans have undergone dramatic declines in the past forty years. For example, the nesting colony at Terengganu, Malaysia went from more than 3,000 females in 1968, to 20 in 1993, to just 2 in 1993 - there are no signs of recovery.
Similar scenarios have occurred in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Mexico. Numbers of females recorded at four formerly major Pacific rookeries have declined to about 250 in Mexico, 117 in Costa Rica, two in Malaysia, and fewer than 550 in Indonesia(Anonymous, 2006)
Reproduction:
Leatherbacks mate offshore in shallow waters near the nesting area. The females dig their flask-shaped nests at night on sloping sandy beaches backed by vegetation. Six clutches can be laid in a season, with a 10-day period between nesting. The females may renest up to 7 miles from the first nest. An average clutch contains 80 to 85 eggs and incubation takes from 55 to 74 days. The 3-inch hatchlings emerge at night and head toward the ocean. The turtles reach sexual maturity at 6 to 10 years of age; the females nest every second or third year.
In the U.S., nesting occurs from about March to July. Female leatherbacks nest an average of 5 to 7 times within a nesting season, with an observed maximum of 11 nests. Most leatherbacks remigrate to their nesting beaches at 2 to 3-year intervals. (Department of energy and environmental protection, 2014)
