Friends was an American sitcom that aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004, lasting ten seasons. It followed the lives of six friends living in Manhattan. Though created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman in the United States, Friends achieved immense international popularity by also airing in countries like the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Canada. The show was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios in California and became one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, ranking highly in seasonal ratings and receiving Emmy awards.

Friends is an American television sitcomwhich was created by

channel on the 22nd September in 1994, and the last episode
was on 6th may 2004 lasting 10 seasons.
However, in the UK friends was aired on the 28th April 1995 on
different channels such as, channel 4, sky1, E4 and comedy
central UK. On September, the 4th in 2011 friends officially
ended on E4 after the channel re-ran the series since 2004.
Comedy central took over the rights to air the program from
October 2011.
In the republic of Ireland each season of the show made its
European debut on RTE2. After 2004 RTE2 began to repeat the
series from the start before moving over to TV3 and its digital
channel 3e in 2010. As of February 2014, repeats of the show
have returned to RTE2 while also broadcasting on Comedy
Central Ireland. Friends also aired in Australia, New Zealand,
Canada, The Philippines and Greece.
The name friends was never intended to be friends at first,
Marta and David where in fact developing friends under the
title “Insomnia Café” between November and December 1993.
They presented the idea to Bright, and together they pitched a
seven-page treatment of the show to NBC. After many script
rewrites and changes, including a title change to Six Of One,
and Friends Like Us, the series was finally named Friends.
The filming took place at the Warner Bros Studios in Burbank
California. All 10 seasons of friends ranked within the top 10 of

2. the final television season, ratings reaching the Number 1 spot
with its 8th season. The series finale which happened on may
the 6th was watched by 52.5million American viewers making it
the fifth most watched series finale in history and the most
watched episode of the 2000s.
Friends became one of the most popular television shows of all
time and has been nominated 62 Primetime Emmy Awards and
winning the Outstanding Comedy Series award in 2002 for the
8th season.
