Latency stage is the most crucial stage that develops the personality of an individual. In this
period before puberty, the child gets introduced to his erogenous parts, the stage also known as
anal stage.
Freud believed in libido, and referred to as psychosexual energy. According to him , the human
behaviour was driven by libido. And in this very stage he learns to control his anal sphincters,
gets toilet trained, and manages his pleasures. If he can overcome these conflicts successfully, it
will result into a sense of accomplishment and independence.
